General DescriptionOwner: : SapuraKencana Australia

Year of Build : 2012

Structural Design : Rob Elks & Associates Fabrication : Phillip Engineering

Hydraulic Design : Pressure Dynamics

Control System Design : FugroTSM

Number Built : 2 Units

Operating Philosophy• The rig can be controlled subsea by diver

intervention

• The rig can be operated topside from a control cabin with minimal diver intervention. This can be extended to be fully automated from the topside with no diver intervention required

• The rig is self guide and self level as it tracks between rock bolt locations via feedback from the builtin gyro’s and sonars

• A reloadable cassette carries 8 rocks bolt assemblies of a typical saddle arrangement

• The drilling head can side shift for ease of aligning to the pipe

• Bottom restraining gates assist with initial punch through for hole penetration

• Drilling feed and RPM is recorded and monitored through the onboard computer

• 3 pan and tilt cameras, 3 zoom cameras and 8 lighting control allow full topside view of all operations

• The rig is operated via a Jupiter control box via hydraulics

• All fluids are environmentally soluble

• The hydraulic umbilical is 120m in length but can be extended to 240m

• Operating depth 5-20m, extendable to 100m with minor modifications

General Specifications• Operational mode: Air diving operation

(base case)

• Relocation mode: Self propelled as well as

pick and place by contruction vessel

• Pile / Rock Bolt Size: 219mm OD x 10.97 wt x 5.5m long

• Performance: Cycle time of <30min to drill/grout & traverse

• Reloading system: PISA magazine type system (8 RB assemblies)

• Drilling capacity: Double / single pile through 50MPA rock formation

• Reliability / cycles : Exceeds 2,000 rock bolt pairs

• Water depth : 0 to 22m (current project)

• Power system: Electro hydraulic system

• Data recording: Drilling data, video c/w lighting

• Interface: Fully compatible with dive and grout spread interface

• Deployment: By lifting

Asset name:

Rock Bolting RigThe rock bolting rig has been designed for the Chevron Upstream Gorgon Domestic Gas Pipeline stabilisation; The rig design allowed for large or smaller pipe sizes and different rock bolting characteristics.
