Q4-How did you use media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
Sam Jenkins
• I think that technological determinism had a large role to playin the construction of our music video. This was because weused the Mini DV Sony cameras provided by college for all ourfilming, and the Imac computers to edit the shots, meaningwe were quite stretched for equipment.
• However the cameras did not work as well from one day tothe next and the same goes for the computer software. Somedays the internet would go down making blogging andresearch impossible
• But despite these setbacks I feel that I and my group handledeach challenge skilfully and were soon able to edit and blog toa professional standard.
• Our group’s creativity was tested by using varioussoftware programmes such as Adobe photo shopand final cut express. This allowed us toexperiment with different editing techniquesallowing us to produce professional products
• One way I used technology was by blogging. Iused the website, blogger to post my course workin a more sociable and relaxed manner. Thiswould appeal to my target audience becausemost teenagers are interested in blogging.
Research
• In order to understand our target audience better we needed to research the Indi genre. We did this by using a variety of sources such as the Google search engine, YouTube and tumblr.
• After my research was complete I used Microsoft word to arrange it and make it easier to read on my blog. I also used Microsoft PowerPoint to create an audience profile in our
pitch presentation. The next two slides are examples of this.

Planning
• We created a calendar on Microsoft outlook that we e- mailedto each other. This allowed us to plan when we would befilming, editing and researching with ease. Below is a copy ofour time management for December 2011
Production
• In order to create our products we used the Mini DV Sony cameras to film and then Final cut express to edit the shots
we had filmed. I think that our process of production could
have been made easier if we had access to better equipment such as HD cameras.
• To create my digi packs I used Adobe photo shop to enhance the vibrancy of my photos and to change the colour of my text
• The only other technology used during production was my mobile (Sony Ericson Xperia) to keep in touch with the rest of my group while out filming
Evaluation• For my evaluation process I used Blogger, Microsoft Power
Point and Microsoft Word to produce answers tot he four questions in different styles.
• I did this as I hope to show that I have the skills to use different forms of technology and also to make my work more interesting.
• Posting work on blogger or via power point can help me back up what I am saying by posting images.
