At the beginning of every school year, there are lots of questions. You can ask the teacher – or go

the ‘heart of the school’ – our principal Mrs. Comeau and our secretary, Mrs. Ross.

Every morning we sign in and find out who is at school today; then, we tell ‘Safe Arrival’ who is not

here.

Part of our morning routine is the ‘Morning Message’. We find out our schedule and plans for the day. We also check on the calendar, what day

of the week it is and what the weather is like outside.

We love to go and read with the volunteers. Sometimes it is a parent… or even a grandparent!

Volunteers also help with computer time, celebrations, and chaperone field trips.

Some of our favourite math activities include: number sense, geometry, measurement, patterning

and numeracy. We are a ‘hands on’ group – we love to use manipulatives!

Here we are using magazines to cut out 9 pictures and aid our ‘numeracy’ understanding .

We like to work in small groups where we learn to share and cooperate.

We always listen to our teacher…

Going to the library is lots of fun. Our librarian, Mrs. King is the most wonderful story teller!! We are learning to bring our library books back on time!

We love books!!Sometimes our teacher reads to us and sometimes

we choose our own books.

It’s recess time! We eat our snacks in the classroom before we go

out to play.

We get really excited about our snacks! We are a peanut and nut free school.

In music class, we sing new songs and learn rhythmic movement with our music teacher, Mrs.

Whiley.

Each afternoon, we spend some time doing independent reading and working with our guided

reading groups.

We like to try out new things, like the computer.Parents often come and help us practice.

Fun programs, like ‘ABC Express’ and ‘ Reader Rabbit’, always keep our interest.

At the listening centre, we hear stories on tape while we follow-along in the book.

We listen carefully for instructions!(Here, Mr. Boudreau – our gym teacher – was

getting us ready to ‘Jump Rope for Heart’.)

Physical activity is an important part of our day.

At the end of the day, we talk about our day, collect our message bags and get ready for home.

Bye!! See you next year!!
