Young People's Theatre is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres and engages, under the terms of the
Canadian Theatre Agreement, professional artists who are members of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.
It is an honour to begin YPT’s 53rd season with Sharon, Bram & Friends. Sharon, Lois & Bram began their decades-long career on the Mainstage of YPT shortly after we opened our home on Front Street. The impact they have had on children over the years is inestimable. It’s fitting that they return to their spiritual home for their 40th Anniversary. The whole YPT family couldn’t be more pleased to welcome them back!
We hope you too will return many times through the season to enjoy our plays. This season, our stage work explores the many ways young people take matters into their own hands to repair things in their world. Please visit our website at youngpeoplestheatre.ca to find everything you need to know about our plays, drama school classes, educational workshops in schools, community programs, and volunteer opportunities. Of special note is a new initiative connecting YPT to Indigenous culture and teachings.
Thanks for coming!

Sharon & Bram Biography
Since 1978, Sharon Hampson and Bram Morrison have been pre-eminent in all aspects of family entertainment across North America as members of the trio “Sharon, Lois & Bram”. They started their career together with Lois Lillenstein 40 years ago right here on this stage at YPT, and now Sharon & Bram return to complete the circle as they prepare for
retirement. The threesome produced over twenty recordings, beginning with their iconic One Elephant, Deux Éléphants, three song-books, six national TV specials, sixty-five episodes of The Elephant Show, and fifty-two of Skinnamarink TV. They have appeared in every major concert hall in Canada, and many in the United States including Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Center and the White House in Washington just to name a few. They have received countless awards, including Gold and Platinum Records and JUNO awards for Best Children’s Album. To date, they have sold over three million albums worldwide.
Sharon and Bram have carried on together since Lois Lillenstein stepped aside from live performing in 2000. This incarnation of one of North America’s most popular family acts ranges from a “sweet and simple” folksy duo performance, to a larger production featuring members of the versatile Skinnamarink Band.
A Sharon and Bram show is a sing-along concert for the entire family, featuring such well-loved favourites as “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain", “Five Little Monkeys", “One Elephant", “Tingalayo", and, of course, “Skinnamarink".
“We love singing with our audiences; the sound of families singing together and the expressions of delight on the faces of parents and children as they share the music, bring us deep satisfaction”, say Sharon and Bram.
Sharon and Bram, with Lois, have supported many social welfare programmes in Canada and the US, such as school breakfasts for learning, encouraging parents to inoculate their children and, internationally, as Goodwill Ambassadors for UNICEF in North and South America, for which they received the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award.
For their years of work providing the best in participatory music for children and their families, Sharon and Bram have been inducted into The Order of Canada, the highest honour in the country.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S THEATRE is the oldest professional theatre company in Toronto and is a national producer and presenter of theatre for young audiences – the first and largest of its kind in Canada. Over the past 53 years YPT has staged many of the most important plays that form the canon of work for youth in our country. The enriched learning experiences of YPT’s Education & Participation Department also provide young people with opportunities to develop their whole being. At Young People’s Theatre we strive for a positive and lasting impact on the emotional, social and intellectual development of young people – giving them the chance to grow into the unique and wonderful people they were born to be.Young People’s Theatre is embarking upon Room for Imagination – a $42 million comprehensive campaign to build a new home. YPT has been operating for the last four decades in a re-purposed Heritage building owned by the City of Toronto. Today, the Company is bursting at the seams. It is time to create a child-friendly, state of the art facility to ensure long-term sustainability for an already financially-successful children’s charity. The province of Ontario has recently committed $13.8 million to this project.
