Obesity is; Increasingly becomes a challenge in

developed countries and as well as developing countries.

Obesity incidence in Turkey % 15-16

Women % 40Man % 20

Obesity,

Unfavorably affects respiratory systemProduces undesired alteration in; Respiratory mechanics Respiratory muscle strength Endurans Respiratory control Exersice capasity

Diyabetes mellitus Risk factors Hipertension Dislipidemi Coronary artery diseases

OBESITY

Purpose In this study throcal expansion, dispne severity,

cardiorespiratory endurance and quality of life of women were evaluated in women with obesity.

Materials and Methods:

Table 1: Mean Age and Body Mass Index of Groups

In two groups, cases who have orthopedic diseases and systemic diseases that interfere to exercise not included to the study

Mean Age(years)

Body Mass Index (kg/m²)

Study Group(n:15)

47 ± 7,8 35 ± 5,1

Control Group(n:15)

46 ± 7,4 24 ± 2,3

Thoracal expansion; Axillar Epigastric Subcostal, chest circumferences measurements

Cardiorespiratory endurance; 6 minutes walk test (6MWT)

Percieved exertion Modified Borg scale

Quality of life; Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) which

has subscales about energy level, pain, physical function, sleep, emotional response and social isolation

Dispnea severity; Medical Research Council Dispne

Scale (MRCDS)

ConclusionIn our study it has been seen that; Obesity decreases cardiorespiratory

endurance Unfavorably effects sleep subscales of

quality of life mesurement in women. We think that it has to be carried out more

extensive studies with more cases in the future.
