The M/V DOCK EXPRESS 10 sailed from the Port of Houston recently witha cargo consisting of an inland drilling barge, an offshore compressormodule and other oil field equipment. The 206-foot, 2,000-ton barge, own-ed by Blocker Energy Corp. of Houston, was floated aboard and stowed inthe after part of the hold. The 250-ton compressor, which measured 48 x 31x 33 feet was loaded forward on the weather deck by crane for DubaiNatural Gas. Before the ship sailed for Saudi Arabia, Tanzania and Dubai,Dock Express Shipping, B.V., entertained 125 guests aboard with a feast ofshrimp, crawfish and catfish.

Two Houston maritime executiveshave been re-named to panels of theAmerican Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
Richard I. Hoskins, vice president ofGulf Trading & Transportation Com-pany, was re-elected to a three-yearterm on the Board of Managers. Theboard elects or confirms persons serv-ing on ABS committees.

Hall to receiveAOTOS award
The late Paul Hall, former presidentof the Seafarer’s International Union,and vice president of the AFL-CIO,has been named the 1981 recipient ofthe Admiral of the Ocean Sea Award.
Mr. Hall is the first honoree toreceive the high award posthumously.It will be accepted by his widow, Rose,and by Frank Drozak, who succeededhim as SIU president, at a dinner anddance in New York on September 25,1981.

ABS, PRC sign reciprocal pactThe American Bureau of Shipping
(ABS) has signed an agreement withthe Register of Shipping of thePeople’s Republic of China (PRC) forreciprocal performance of classifica-tion and other services, such as assign-ing load lines.
The agreement allows ABS exclusivesurveyors to be stationed in China tosurvey ships and other marine struc-tures built or converted to ABS class. Italso enables ABS to perform surveysand other classification services on
ABS-classed vessels that enter Chineseports. ABS can enlist the services of thePRC as needed for assistance in con-ducting these services.
Two mobile offshore drilling unitsare the first marine structures to bebuilt to ABS classification under theagreement. Dalian Shipyard, Dalian,China, is building the self-elevatingunits for Magnum Marine Corpora-tion, Conroe, Texas. An ABS exclusivesurveyor will attend the construction ofthe units at Dalian.
