Volunteering enriches thelives of students and volun-teers alike! We appreciateevery person who makes timein their schedule to invest inour students and want toshare some recent changes tovolunteer procedures at ourdistrict. A new Missouri law, which requires an FBI back-ground check, with finger-printing, for all screened vol-unteers, took effect inAugust. Screened volunteersare adults who supervise chil-dren, outside of the presenceof a school district employee,or who may have the opportu-nity to come in contact withsensitive student information. An example would be fieldtrip chaperones. If you arealready registered as a volun-teer in the Holden R-IIIDistrict and do not plan to vol-unteer outside the presenceof a Holden Schools employ-ee, no additional action isrequired. However, if youwould like to become ascreened volunteer, you willneed to make arrangementsto begin the fingerprintingprocess. The required back-ground check is $41.75 andthe background clearance isvalid for a volunteer for five
years. For fingerprinting serv-ices through the state elec-tronic fingerprint vendor, youmust first register with theMissouri Automated CriminalHistory Site (MACHS) atwww.machs.mo.gov, or indi-viduals without access to theinternet may contact IDEMIAat (844) 543-9712 to have aFingerprint ServicesRepresentative conduct thisregistration on their behalf. Please contact a school officeto obtain our district registra-tion code and with any ques-tions you may have. Volunteerforms and information can befound on our website atholdenschools.org/volunteerWe believe these enhancedsecurity requirements willhelp ensure the safety of ourchildren. We thank you foryour cooperation and look for-ward to partnering with you!
The mission for Holden R-III School District is for all students, upon graduation, to have
marketable skills or the basis to be eligible for post-secondary educational opportunities.‘‘
