Sustainable Sites - Stormwater Management

Where buildings are located near water sources it is important to mitigate the effects of stormwater runoff and parking lot pollution.

Stormwater Runoff and Parking Lot Pollution

Pervious pavers. Pervious pavers installed in the parking lot to allow stormwater to percolate into the ground and insure that stormwater runoff volumes are/were the same as “predevelopment levels.”

You can create detention ponds to capture runoff.

Detention Ponds and Underground Separation Tanks

Underground separation tanks can be installed to filter sand and oil from stormwater prior to its release into the city’s stormwater system.

Energy and Atmosphere

Goal: Minimize energy used for heating, cooling and lighting.

Summer. In the summer a night flush vent system replaces the hot air of the day with cool night time air.

Radiant heat system. A radiant heat system using the highest efficiency commercial boilers and ceiling mounted radiant panels is used to warm buildings on cold days.
