Landmarks

• Landmarks are great places to visit when you are visiting any country, not just Japan.

• Some landmarks of Japan include the Nara Buddha and Disneyland in Tokyo.

Nara Buddha

• The Nara Buddha belongs to the Todai-Ji temple. This temple is located in the ancient capital of Nara, which is in Nara Prefecture, south of Kyoto.

• Tokyo Disney land officially opened on April 15, 1983.

• Tokyo Disney was the first Disney resort opened outside of the United States.

• Tokyo Disney has two main entertainment sections: the original Tokyo Disneyland park and the Tokyo Disney Sea theme park.

Tokyo Disneyland

Todai-Ji

• Todai-Ji Temple is a Buddhist temple in Nara, and the largest wooden building in the world. Todai-Ji Temple houses Japan's largest Buddha statue which is the Nara Buddha.

• It was constructed in 752 on the order of Emperor Shomu.

Mt Fuji

• Mt Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan • at 3,776 m (12,388 ft).• Along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku,

it is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains”.

Japan Bullet Trains

• The Tokaido Shinkansen, connecting Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, was constructed in 1964 as the first Shinkansen line and the world's first high speed train service. At that time the trains already ran at about 200 km/h. Nowadays they reach speeds of 300 km/h.
