• To encourage an integrated approach for rural tourism• To explore new concepts in tourism• To promote best practices• To stimulate networking between participants

STRENGHTS A specific rural culture, that became extinct in the rest of Europe; Spectacular scenery; Model of interethnic coexistence.

WEAKNESSES

Lack of basic services and infrastructure; Lack of training in service providers; Lack of integrated services.

OPORTUNITIES

To maintain the traditions; To diversify the economic rural activities; To create associations between stakeholders.

THREATS

The migration of young people to the cities; The loss of traditions; The reinforcement of the “weekend-break” type tourism.

What about tourism?

Results

• 18 TWG were organized;

• There were more than 300 participants;

• There were more than 20 participant organizations which

became partners in existing clusters;

• One new rural touristic cluster was created;• A network of stakeholders interested in tourism was created.

Proposals

• To create a guide about how to construct new tourist infrastructures adapted to

local architecture;

• To create a data base with projects that can contain valuable ideas that can be

put into practice;

• To award a bonus from the RDP or other funding programmes to those projects

that comply with the Danube strategy and the Carpathian Convention;

• To promote rural tourism in schools.
