Model status summary

61970CIM16 Model “frozen” several times since January,

16v25 now up to 16v29 release

61970-301 Ed. 6 draft exists, Lars-Ola Osterlund

61970CIM17v04 draft released

Recent additions of 61970 Informative package for

Power System Projects

Alternative Models, models changes and alternate

models

Modeling issues meetings

Regular WG13 weekly web conferences

All WG14 and WG16 members also invited

Good participation especially when special topic called

Kendall attending most WG14 calls and some WG16

WG13 modeling call is Wednesday 10:AM US Central time

Issues counts as of November 2014

WG13 issue counts

Open = 43

Closed = 1009

Review 3

Combined open issues

Open = 14

Review 8

Closed 201 + 1 ReadyToClose

P 8

Changes tracking and process

P 9

Reinstated model changes word doc for 2014. Helps my workflow. Gap for part of CIM16 not filled in.

“Issues closed in” spreadsheets

Not being maintained, seems like duplication

“Closed in” column needs better formatting to filter.

Improve tracking parallel changes in CIM16 and CIM17

“Closed in CIM16” column does not scale well

WHAT’S IN 61970 CIM 16

Ed.5 of IEC 61970-301 (and what is coming for -302)

10

CIM 16 quick recap

Dynamics package added

Major development effort, lots of modeling

Rearrange 61970 packages for Base and Dynamics

771 page report from EA, 240 classes + packages

DC model improvements

New DC terminal connectivity model

HVDC models updated

Grounding models (Petersen coil), GroundingSwitch, Ground

Faults

Steady state hypothesis support – target values, etc.

Non-linear ShuntCompensator – type change evolution

Phase shifter updates

StaticVarCompensator updatesP 11

New Dynamics package

P 12

Dynamics embedded diagrams

Relate parameters to diagrams (e.g. JPEG).

P 13

HVDC models and DC topology

P 14

Generic DC topological model

HVDC model

Described in 61970-301 Base Model

DC UML package

P 15

Petersen coil and grounding classes

P 16

Classes

PetersonCoil (branch to grounding network)

GroundDisconnector (is a Switch)

Ground (like a BusbarSection)

Part of Wires package

Petersen coil and grounding

P 17

Fault models

P 18

Node faults or equipment internal faults

SVC updates for CIM16

SVC regulates according to following:

P 19

WHAT’S NEW IN 61970 CIM 17

Ed.6 of IEC 61970-301

20

CIM17 topics time

TC57 Measurement harmonization (enums, metering alignment also)

61850/CIM Harmonization Support

Alternate models/Frames (informative model and much discussion)

SCADA communication config / ICCP config (informative model)

ENTSO-E IOP issues (ongoing)

Planned Outages - WG14 coordination (ENTSO-E coordination)

Limit management – variations over time, temp, etc… (exchange)

Power system projects - WG 14 coordination (informative model)

T and D integration, Load model cleanup (some discussions)

System Integrity Protection Schemes (informative crude, change modeling TF)

AC/DC control / protection schemes

SCADA calculations – waiting on operations from change modeling task force

RegulatingControl complex control – lower priority

Violation reporting (not yet)

SCADA controls (issue recognized)

PMU information (partially addressed in 61850 harmonization)

Contingency grouping and short circuit

P 21

Domain – datatype changes

P 22

Combined units approach changed

Add new combined UnitSymbol enums

Remove:

denominatorMultipiler

denominatorUnit

Changes to

Requires new enums on UnitSymbol

Integers on Enums

c-039: enums with integer values: e.g.

Currency

Aligned with IEC 61850.

P 23

CIM17 adds EnergySourcePhase

P 24

Similar to EnergyConsumerPhase

Attribution needed

Wires package

Power System Projects (informative)

Very draft (but UML) – under InfIEC61970

package

Multiple UML have been proposed, Frames

added

P 25

TASK FORCE ACTIVITIES

Summary of active task forces.

26

61850 CIM Harmonization

Enumeration harmonization

TC57 Measurement harmonization

Support the work of the 61850/CIM task force.

Model changes to support 61850 and CIM

P 27

“Generic Change Modeling” Task Force

Formed June 12 at Brussels WG 13/14 meeting

IEC TC57 WG – 13, 14, and 16 interest

Objective: Define a modeling approach for expressing a collection of changes to a CIM dataset as an ‘Incremental Dataset’

Goals:

construction, outages, SIPS, audit trail, proposed plans,…

Grouped changes, and augmented with context information

Target of change is unknown or varies

Narrow or constrain the allowed changes (like a profile)

Works well with RDF, XSD, or other serialization technologies

Work

Requirements discussions

Use cases

Expression in UML of model changes

Discussion of change as a type of operation on models

Operations (also a prototype in UML) relation to 61968-100 verbs

Model Manager Guidance document

Not yet formalized as IEC international standard (IS)

Likely to become IEC Technical Report (TR)

Captures guidance but not formal agreement on

everything

Helpful guidance for the canonical model UML (rules)

Many (most) of these rules are codified in the

jCleanCim tool

Covers user extensions to CIM canonical model

Covers canonical model namespace specification

User feedback on sharing document in present state?
