* 구텐베르크 프로젝트 : 저작권이 소멸된 고전 서적들을 전자 문서화하는

프로젝트(1971년)로, 전자책의 첫 사례로 평가됨

• 구텐베르크 프로젝트로부터 시작된 전자책은 초기에 종이책을 디지털 형태로 가공 및 저장한 형태로 보급

• 최근에는 다양한 멀티미디어를 포한한 디지털 콘텐츠 형태로 발전하고 있으며 특히 전자책단말기, 스마트폰, 태블릿 등 기기가 다양해지면서 새로운 양방향 미디어서비스로 진화·발전되고 있는 추세
