Japanese Hiragana

ひらがなひょう (Hiragana Table)

Hiragana

• There are 50 sounds of Hiragana

• These 50 sounds is basic

• You are required to remember ALL these 50 sounds in order to be able to read simple Japanese words

だくおん (Voice-out Sound)

Dakuon (Dengung/Teran)

• If you look carefully, dakuon is same with ka line, sa line, ta line, and ha line.

• The ways to write is same. However, there are additional symbols up to them.

• か - が / さ - ざ / た - だ / は - ば / は - ぱ

• Ka Ga/ Sa Za/ Ta Da/

• Ha Ba/ Ha Pa

ようおん (Contracted Sound)

Youon(Sebutan tindih)

• Youon is a contracted series of 50 basic Hiragana. Ya,yu and yo contracted with I series only ( Ki,Shi,Gi,Pi,Hi and so on)

• For example, please look Hiragana table for Ki and Ya. You will find out ki- き and ya- や .

• Now try to write Kiya. It will becomes like this きや . However for kya, you must write like this きゃ . So, what is the different guys?

ひらがなのかきかた( Ways to write Hiragana)

• The real ways to write hiragana stroke is simple

• You must write from LEFT to RIGHT

• And from UP to BOTTOM

• In others words, DON’T WRITE from OPPOSITE WAYS

• Now you already learned about 50 basic of Hiragana. For Dakuon and Youon, please write it the same way you learned before.

• Make sure you put double line(tanda tanwin) for Dakuon I series.

• And make sure you make small や、ゆ、よ

ちいさいつ (Small tsu)

• There is double consonants reading in Japanese. For example がっこう、ざっし

• If you look carefully, you will realized つ is written as small as usual.

• In this case, you can’t read it as tsu but you must read it as same consonant after it.

• Double consonants only can be applied for consonant P, T, S, K

• Now, try read this:

• きっぷ、きっと、きっさてん、きっかけ• きつぷ、きつと、きつさてん、きつかけ
