In Loving Memory of Dr. Alex Moir UCSF Fresno is mourningthe loss of Dr. Alex Moir,Chief of Family andCommunity Medicine, whopassed away following askiing accident on December19, 2015. He is survived byhis wife, Elise, and their twosons. Dr. Moir spent his more than20 year career at UCSFFresno, where he advocatedfor rural and small-community family medicine,as well as healthcare forLatinos and otherunderserved communities. He also taught and practicedrural medicine in Selma atthe Adventist Medical Center. Dr. Moir was recognized in 2012 byAdventist Health Central Valley Network with a Physician of the YearMission Award for his commitment to providing physical, mental andemotional care to his patients. "Alex had spent his entire career at UCSF Fresno since graduatingfrom medical school, tirelessly providing care to the patients in ourregion. Alex was an outstanding physician, teacher, mentor andleader, and he will be greatly missed," said Michael Peterson, MD,Interim Associate Dean of UCSF Fresno. UCSF Fresno Leadership News Interim Associate Dean Peterson announced the following leadershipchanges for UCSF Fresno:

Carlos Sueldo, MD, clinical professor, was namedto the position of Chief of Obstetrics andGynecology for UCSF Fresno .

Serena Yang, MD, associateclinical professor, has acceptedthe position of Interim Chief ofPediatrics for UCSF Fresno.

Roger Mortimer, MD,clinical professor, hasaccepted the position of Interim Chief of Familyand Community Medicine for UCSF Fresno.

Steve Foster, DO, assistantclinical professor, has acceptedthe position of ProgramDirector of Pediatrics for UCSFFresno.

Christopher Downer, MD, assistant clinicalprofessor, has accepted the position of ProgramDirector of Obstetrics and Gynecology for UCSFFresno.

UCSF Fresno Selected to Participate in

National Professional DevelopmentProgram

UCSF Fresno has been selected as one of only nine institutions toparticipate in an exciting, new national professional developmentprogram, Professionals Accelerating Clinical and EducationalRedesign (PACER). PACER is a three-year, grant-funded program that will help buildinterprofessional faculty teams capable of transforming their clinicalpractices and educational programs to better prepare trainees to worktogether in high performing patient-centered medical homes. "My colleagues and I are honored to have been selected for thePACER program and we look forward to participating," said SerenaYang, MD, MPH, associate clinical professor and interim chief ofUCSF Fresno Department of Pediatrics and team leader of UCSFFresno's PACER. "This program will enhance our knowledge andskills to provide and teach interprofessional, team-based,comprehensive and continuous health care with the goal of achievingmaximized health outcomes for patients," said Yang. "This isconsistent with what we aim for every day at UCSF Fresno."
