– The program and the best day for clubs to attract new members
Go Sailing – The Background
The “Go sailing” brand was developed in Victoria in 2006 to
• Transcend all the individual clubs brands and identities
• Muster existing sailors to promote their sport
• Present a contemporary image to the public
• Encourage non participants to go sailing at member clubs
It is currently funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria
What does the Go Sailing Program involve?
• A website – designed for novices or those wanting to find out more about getting into the sport.
• "Go Sailing" days – focusing on a limited number of days but delivering a message that clubs are welcoming and always looking for new members
• A range of printed brochures – for example a brochure titled "Like to Go Sailing at a Club in Victoria?”
• A boat show display stand – with information targeted at people who want to get into sailing

• The Famous Go Sailing sticker– encouraging clubs and class members to promote sailing
• Club signage – available free of charge to clubs – as both banners and large decals
• A PR campaign highlighting the affordability and accessibility of sailing through articles on kids, women and families in sailing, its affordability and accessibility including Sailability.
Go Sailing Day
• Over the last 2 years there has been 1700 and 1800 participants.
• This year there are 32 clubs signed up to be involved, more then any other year.
• Interest is our Go Sailing Day’s from other states wanting to emulate our success
• Securing media partnership with 2010 Yachting Victoria Media & Publicly Award winner the Leader Newspaper
• Emphasis this year on recording attendees contact information and converting them into members
• And creating a standard for activities run on the day

Go Sailing – The Message
• Everyone in the Sailing Community understand the brilliance of our sport in both competing and enjoyment
• The Go Sailing program wants everyone in Victoria to have this experience regardless of ability, age or financial status
