individauals to a staff of 63

• Comparable to Ebay, but the company has cultivated a very different feel

• Community based

• "When you get an item from Etsy, there's this whole history behind it," Kalin said. "There's a person behind it."

• Etsy makes a profit by charging a listing fee of 20 cents per item, and by taking 3.5 % of every sale

• Unusual in that it does not depend on advertising revenue
