ADVENT-CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
FROM THE PASTOR
December 2016
Dear Partners in Ministry,
Greetings to you from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Babe of Bethlehem, born to save us!
Advent/Christmas is the gift-giving season. Many of us will be asked, “What do you want for Christmas?” We, in turn, should be thinking about what we’re giving to others. Even though the stores are super-stocked, it is often difficult to find just the right gift for every person on our lists. God had no such problems. He knew exactly what each person needed. In fact, he knows our needs better than we know them, and he knew them before we were ever born. God’s most indescribable gift was perfect. “When the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons” (Galatians 4:4). Now, that’s a gift that can’t be topped! Over two thousand years ago, the world received the greatest gift, and it’s the gift that truly keeps on giving!
Jesus tells us, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). God has given us his Son, which we celebrate each Christmas, and he has given us all other things as well. As recipients of God’s gifts, are we discovering the joy that comes from giving back some of our gifts? Are we expressing our gratitude by sharing some of our blessings? We don’t give to Jesus by going to the malls to shop for him, but we do give to him by sharing our love, time, talents, and money with those in need and our church. The best gift we can give Jesus is our hearts, showing him our love by faithfully and obediently doing what he asks of us.
As your pastor, I want to thank you for your generous giving to the Lord through our church. It is a wonderful blessing to have so many of you give so generously of your time, talents, and treasures. God is doing great things through you. Because of your generosity, we are able to share the Good News of our Savior, born on Christmas Day, with many people.
May we all keep Christ as the heart of our Christmas and make Jesus the reason for our joy. God’s blessings on your Advent/Christmas worship and celebration with loved ones.
In Christ,
Pastor Bodnyk
Warmest wishes for a wonderful and blessed Christmas and a
safe and healthy New Year!
From Pastor Bodnyk and Staff
Welcome to the Lord's Table
For the past couple of weeks, Pastor Bodnyk has met with several of our young people and talked with them about the meaning of Holy Communion and why we share the bread and wine as the Body and Blood of Christ. Now the following young people will be sharing the Sacrament along with the rest of the people of faith:
Gianna Anfuso, Connor Cave, Ryley Colburn, Maxwell Euculano, Colton Miller, Ethan Ringenberger, Brandon Rummel We pray that the Sacrament of Holy Communion will be an important part

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Congratulations! To Christina Endy for being on the Dean’s List at Stevenson University.
Our own, Sarah Whittaker, was selected for one of the highest awards a Syracuse University student can receive. The Remembrance Scholarship is awarded to seniors chosen for distinguished scholarship, citizenship, and service to the community. It is among the most prestigious scholarships awarded by the University. It was founded as a tribute to the 270 people, including 35 Syracuse University students studying abroad, who were killed in the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The motto of the Remembrance Scholars is to “LOOK BACK and ACT FORWARD.” The Scholars’ mission is to educate the campus community about terrorism by relating Syracuse University’s Pam Am Flight 103 experience to more current events, and provide avenues to create a better community through service and positive actions. Through education and action, all 270 lost in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, especially our 35 students are remembered and honored.

Best Wishes to Pastor Bodnyk who will be celebrating his birthday on Monday, December 5th!

ALL ANNUAL REPORTS ARE DUE AS SOON AS YOUR DECEMBER BUSINESS IS COMPLETED
All Staff Members, Committee Chairpersons, and Heads of Organizations Meeting In Faith Lutheran Church!
If possible, please prepare your report on the computer using Word. Submit it to the
church office via email to Sue Bellucci at suefelc@rcn.com, along with a signed hard copy. If you do not have a computer, please submit your report in writing. Reports should include highlights from the past year’s activities. Remember that many of our members are not familiar with the various committees and their functions and responsibilities. Please carefully explain that in your report - do not assume that other members know about your ministry. These reports are evangelistic in nature; they witness to your ministry and will hopefully help to bring more of our members onto these committees. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Additional Church Council Nominee for 2017
BRIAN HOLOBUSKY
I have been a lifetime member here at FELC. I served several times on church council and various committees over the years. I currently serve on the property committee. I headed the electrical portion of the Blacker Hall project that was recently completed and was involved in upgrading much of our outdoor lighting to energy efficient LED. Along with that, I support the fire alarm and telephone systems. I previously worked many years in general contracting and electrical contracting. I am married to my wife Cindy who is also a member here at Faith. We reside in Walnutport, PA. In my free time, I enjoy projects around my house and my church.
