Subject overview

• Level 2 FBE subject ‐ 12.5 credit points

• Insight into India: Business and Economic Development

• Spend two weeks on a study tour:‐ Company visits (government & non‐government)‐ University visit to meet and learn from Indian 

students‐ Excursions‐ Cultural activities

• Assessment includes reflective essay; research report and group presentation

Subject costs

• Subject tuition fee

• Program fee‐ $1,800 ‐ $2,200 *indicative only ‐ Non refundable‐ Covers 12 nights bed and breakfast (twin‐share accommodation), some meals, company 

visits, program excursions and tours

• NOT included in the program fee‐ Airfares‐ Visa‐ Other meals‐ Incidentals

Important to remember: the above costs are in addition to your subject tuition fee

Funding available

New Colombo Plan (NCP) grants‐ Large number of grants available ‐ valued at $3,000‐ Available to Australian citizens ‐ Cannot hold dual citizenship with the host country or residency rights of the host country ⁻ DFAT have advised that holders of a PIO card are ineligible for a NCP grant to India⁻ Must not have previously received NCP funding for a short‐term mobility subject

Melbourne Mobility Awards ‐ Participants not awarded a NCP grant can apply for a Melbourne Mobility Award‐ Available to local and international students ‐ valued at $1,000‐ Can only be awarded one Mobility Award for duration of course 

($2,500 grants available for semester long overseas study e.g. exchange)

• What do we look for?‐ Indicative minimum WAM = 70%‐ Must have completed at least 100 credit points towards the BCom prior to departure⁻ Your CV⁻ A short statement of purpose

Visa requirements

• Most participants will require a visa (very few countries which do not need visa to enter India)

• We are in process of confirming the visa type that will be required

• Passport must have a minimum of six months validity post arrival in India

• We will provide letters of support if required
