Since its inception in 2007, the Foundation has raised $3.4 million - $2.5 million has been contributed by ESCO and $850,000 by our employees. Due to this generosity, we have been able to give $2.9 million in grants and accumulate $.5 million in savings to fund future giving. For every dollar donated by an employee, an average of $3.50 has been given back to the communities where we all work and live. By working together, ESCO and our employee are making a meaningful difference in supporting children and families in need. In 2018, we are on track to give ~$350,000 in grants in support of charitable organizations, scholarships, and employee hardship cases. Through the third quarter of 2018, the Foundation has added three new core charities to support in the communities of companies recently acquired by ESCO – Interfaith Ministries of Greater Modesto, United Way of Chittenden County, and King Street Center. In June, fourteen $3,000 college scholarships were awarded to the children of our employees. Our ability to continue to grow our annual giving to these many deserving causes is made possible by the generous donations we receive. Please see the articles included in this newsletter for information
about some of the charities supported by the Foundation and for
details on the 2018 Scholarship recipients. For more information
regarding the Foundation and the organizations we support, please

ESCO Corporate - Friends of Kids
with Cancer Friends of Kids with Cancer is devoted to
enriching the daily lives of children
undergoing treatment for, and survivors of,
cancer and blood related diseases. Their
mission is to be an advocate for these special
kids and provide them and their families with
the educational, emotional, and recreational
support needed as a result of the long hours
of chemotherapy, illness and insolation.
Friends of Kids with Cancer is one of the
original core charities supported by the
Foundation since 2006. Over the years we
have provided almost $100,000 in grants to
this organization, providing blanket warmers,
entertainment equipment, outdoor play
equipment, sensory therapy equipment,
college scholarships for former patients, and
therapy sessions for their teen support group.
ESCO’s 2017 grant of $9,500 allowed Friends
of Kids with Cancer to upgrade an
entertainment system originally installed in
2003 when the Mercy Clinic Children’s
Cancer and Hematology/Cardinal’s Kids
Cancer Center first opened. Since then,
children and teens receiving treatment for
cancer have utilized the movie servers, video
clients, DVD players, and videos to take their
mind off their long infusion sessions…at least
for a while.
ESCO’s gift allowed Friends to install a new
system that includes an upgraded
entertainment server with spare hard drives,
Roku Premier+ Service with extra remotes,
Ethernet access for 10 monitors, 22 LED TV’s
for pods, Raspberry Pi media center kit – and
the technical services to install the new
system.
Now when patients spend time at Mercy for
their treatment sessions, they can access a
wide range of entertainment content – and do
so without a tremendous amount of waiting
on the dreaded “download buffering.”
In 2018, ESCO’s grant of $7,500 to Friends of
Kids with Cancer is supporting their newly
introduced Teen-Young Adult Support Group.
Designed especially for youth ages 14-21,
this program provides an opportunity for
current patients and those recently out of
treatment to come together in a small group
setting and share their treatment experiences
with others who have also been there battling
cancer and who truly “get it.”
The Teen-Young Adult Support Group has
already shown tremendous results including:
Increased coping skills
Exposure and increased openness to
new perspectives
Receptivity to positive outcomes
Increased hope for the present and for
the future!
Our gift will provide support for nine group
sessions throughout 2018.

PTI - Special Olympics Special Olympics provides year-round sports
training and athletic competition in a variety of
Olympic-style sports for individuals with
intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing
opportunities to discover new strengths and
abilities and experience joy, confidence and
fulfillment.
Ed Saxey (PTI) and his wife coach several
teams for this amazing organization.
Recently their basketball teams (the Sharks
and the Dolphins) competed in the San Luis
Obispo Basketball Tournament at Cuesta
College and a Regional Tournament at
California Lutheran University.
The Foundation has been supporting Special
Olympics of Ventura County since 2008. Our
annual grant of $15,000 helps provide
transportation to and from competitions.
Westland - Interfaith Ministries
Interfaith Ministries was founded over 40 years ago and is a group of faith-based congregations, organizations and individuals that help those in the greater Modesto area who are in need of food, clothing and other humanitarian services. They provide healthy groceries, educational information and guidance for preparing wholesome meals in an atmosphere where those receiving services are valued, respected, and empowered by the choices they are given. They provide almost 2 million meals annually in a community, where over 20% of the population lives below the poverty line. Interfaith Ministries operates free programs including their Modesto Pantry, Mobile Farmers Market, and Community Clothes Closet.
Westland Technologies has been supporting
Interfaith Ministries for about a year. Over the
holidays they had a coat drive to support their
Community Clothes Closet and now have
chosen to make this organization a core
charity for the Modesto area. The Foundation
recently approved a $9,000 grant to support
their Mobile Farmers Market. The Farmers
Market provides fresh fruits and vegetables to
neighborhoods where fresh produce isn’t
readily available. The event takes place three
times per month at different schools in low-
income neighborhoods. There is no charge
and they serve ~15,000 people per year.

ETS - Habitat for Humanity - Lake
County
Dustin Goffron (ETS - Wood Dale) is a board member and construction volunteer for Habitat for Humanity – Lake County. The Foundation recently made a $1,000 grant through our Miscellaneous Giving Program to support the purchase of building materials and supplies. Since 1989 Habitat for Humanity – Lake County has helped 203 low-income families to obtain permanent home ownership through building, rehabbing and repairing homes.

Our Miscellaneous Giving Program provides grants of up to $1,000 to support charitable organizations where our employees are actively engaged within their communities.
