and EDTECH 2 The Student After EDTECH

Hi!, I’m Cherry Anne I. Legaspi. 18 years old. Currently residing at Daine II, Indang, Cavite.

I’m taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English at Cavite State University.

Educational Technology in a

Nutshell

Educational Technology

The word "technology " comes from the greek word “techne” which means craft or art.

• Educational technology refers to the art or craft of responding to our educational needs.

• Technology is not just machines. It is a "planned, systematic method of working to achieve planned outcomes-a process not a product.

Educational Technology

Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.

Educational Technology

Educational technology is “a complex, integrated process involving people, procedures, ideas, devices and organization for analyzing problems and devising, implementing, evaluating and managing solution to those problems, involved in all aspects of human learning.”

Education Technology

Educational technology refers to how people use their inventions and discoveries to satisfy their educational needs and desires, (i. e. learning).

Educational technology is a theory about how problems in human learning are identified and solved.

Other terms associated with Educational Technology:

Technology in education Instructional technology Technology integration Educational Media

Technology in Education

Technology in education is the application of technology to any of those processes involved in operating the institutions which house the educational enterprise. It includes the application of technology to food, health, finance, scheduling, grade, reporting, and other processes which support education with institutions.

Instructional Technology

a part of Educational Technology.

refers to those aspects of educational technology that “are concerned with instruction as contrasted to designs and operations of educational institutions.”

Technology Integration

means learning technologies to introduce, reinforce, supplement and extend skills.

Technology is a part and parcel of instructional technology, which in turn is a part of educational technology.

Educational Media

Are channels or avenues or instruments of communication. Examples are books, magazines, newspapers, radio, television and Internet. These media also serve educational purposes.

Roles of Technology in Learning

As tools support knowledge construction: for representing learners’ ideas, understandings and beliefs for producing organized, multimedia knowledge bases by learners.

As information vehicles for exploring knowledge to support learning-by-constructing: for accessing needed information for comparing perspectives, beliefs and world views.

Roles of Technology in Learning

As a social medium to support learning by conversing: for collaboration with others, for discussing, arguing and building consensus among members of a community, for supporting discourse among knowledge-building communities.

Roles of Technology in Learning As intellectual partner to support learning-by-reflecting:

• For helping learners to articulate and represent what they know.• For reflecting on what they have learned and how they come to know it.• For supporting learners internal negotiations and meaning making.• For constructing personal representations of meaning for supporting mindful thinking.

that was modified to be used by teachers in the regular classroom.

This process is one in which teachers and trainers can use to design and the develop the mot appropriate learning environment for their students .

The Computer as the Teacher’s Tool

Computer can support the constructivist and socio constructivist paradigms in learning.

Based on the two learning theories, the teacher can employ the computer as/an:

LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH1

AND EDTECH 2

Having Educational technology in our studies, we will be guided accordingly to what are the importance and primary used of technology. We will learn to used technology not only for recreation but also for our education. It will provide education in the use of technology in instruction.

Educational Technology is not only about on how the teachers or students will going to use the technology but also, it will help them to improve and enrich the teaching and the learning process. Also with the help of Educational technology the learning became more interesting unlike when they are using the traditional way of teaching. More interaction occurs between the teacher and the students when they are using technology.

Educational technology helps to infuse technology in the student-teacher training, helping learners to adapt and meet rapid and continuing technology changes in information and communication technology (ICT) environment. As a future teacher, we must develop our skills in using the computer. We must need to be more knowledgeable because compare to traditional way of teaching that books are the main instructional material, now we used different technologies like laptops, projectors, etc. when we teach.

THE STUDENT AFTER

EDTECH

As a future educator, we must know how

we can integrate the technology in learning. We must know the different learning styles of the students for us to know if they will learn more when we use technology. But we need to be careful in using technology because sometimes even it gives us convenience we forget the essence of being a teacher, we only depend on technology which is not a good thing to do.

As a 21st century learner, we are lucky that the integration of technology into teaching and learning is now in practice and included in the curriculum. With this, even students in the pre-school will learn the value and importance of a computer and other technologies aside from the neophyte knowledge that a computer is only for games and recreation. But it must be clear to us, that technology/computer will never replace the teachers. It will never ever replace the teachers because “Teacher will always be a Teacher” computer/ technology is only a tool that is being use and manipulate by the teachers.
