“Todos por el Lago” & Rotary Club AssociationOctober, 2013
Main ideaMain idea Implementation of dry latrines to provide
the surrounding communities of lake Atitlán - in the developing process - of decent and efficient services that also contribute to clean the villages and natural wealth.
The eco latrine model doesn’t use water and substitutes the cesspool (highly polluted) with containers that decompose the solid excretes making them less contaminant or, in the best of cases, takes advantage and uses them as a fertilizer.
ObjectivesObjectives
Avoid contamination of the phreatic cloak in lake Atitláns basin.
Improve the life conditions of rural inhabitants.
Create a volunteer program to install and control the sanitary units.
GoalGoalDevelop the Project in 3 phases:
◦Phase 1: installation + training.◦Phase 2: change of deposit + use control.
◦Phase 3: use control + residue stock. Install an average of 100 units’ semi annually.
Favor a population of 1200 people annually.
