JODHPUR, Jan 15:

Actor Salman Khan hasbeen asked to appear before thea local court here on January 29in connection with the blackbuck poaching case.

The Jodhpur District Courtcomprising Chief JudicialMagistrate Chandra Kala Jain,after examining all prosecutionwitnesses, today asked Salmanto appear before the court in thecase.

He was exempted fromappearance in the court till now,and will now be examinedbefore the court, public prose-cutor Upendra Sharma said.

The investigating officerAshok Patni was the final wit-ness to be examined, Salman'scounsel Hastimal Saraswat said.

The actor is accused of car-rying weapons with expiredlicence during the hunting ofblack bucks at Kankani villagenear Jodhpur in the interveningnight of 1-2 October, 1998.

The trial in the case resumedon May 25 last year after 7years of suspension followingRajasthan High Court's rejec-tion of the revision petition,which was filed by the stategovernment in 2006. The courthad rejected the petition on May15, 2013. (PTI)
