The Street

It has been estimated that there are around

300,000 stray dogs living in Bangkok.

There are around 500,000 stray cats

living in Bangkok

Mr Teerachon said the pigeons would have a better life

outside the city. He said the birds' lives now were "no

different from stray dogs' in the city".

-Bangkok Post-

Approximately 250-300 squirrels are sold across

Chatuchak Weekend Market. Unlike the legal

dealers, the vendors selling illegal species had the

sign “No Photo” in both Thai and English.

"Most people don't realize

how many animals die on

the road every day - they

just don't see it,"

-Ron Ringen, a.k.a.

“Doctor Roadkill”-

The Zoo

“There are no wild animals

until man makes them so.”

-Mark Twain-

Bangkok‟s 65-year-old Dusit Zoo has around

1,600 animals. The zoo gets an average of

2.5 million visitors each year.

“The question is not, „Can they reason?‟ nor,

„Can they talk?‟ but rather, „Can they suffer?”

-Jeremy Bentham-

Those who wish to pet and baby

wild animals "love" them. But

those who respect their natures and

wish to let them live normal lives,

love them more.

-Edwin Way Tale-

Pets

I believe in animal rights, and high among them is the

right to the gentle stroke of a human hand.

-Robert Brault-

“The owner tied the dog in this parking lot as soon

as it grew too big for the house,” said a neighbor.

“The owner just comes around to give food and

water. She has never untied that rope.”
