What does Archivists do? Where do they work? We’ll start
by investigating Forest County’s WW1 history through the
use of the National Archives and Wisconsin Historical
Society’s resources. We’ll start identifying sources of WW1
records in Forest County and uncover some stories through
photographs and archival documents in the local history
room of the Crandon Public Library.

Today it’s all about Preservation! How do we preserve our
WW1 History? Today we’ll discuss the proper way to scan
and store photos in order to preserve them for future
generations. We’ll scan photos, catalog documents and
begin creating online access to the materials.

As the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 2018
draws near, we will discuss how we can honor the brave
men and women from Forest county that served in WW1.
We’ll continue discovering stories and documenting them
for a display at the Forest County Fair.

Let’s show off our World War I History! Youth that
participated in the Citizen Archivist—WWI Spin club are
invited to enter their display in the Forest County Fair.
If you like old photos, museums, and learning about
history, then this is the Club for you!
As a member of the “Citizen Archivist—WW1” Spin Club, you
will work with a trained educator to learn the
basics of archival work including the proper care and
handling of photos, journals, yearbooks, diaries and family
papers. Your work will lead to increased access to a
collection of materials specific to Forest County’s war efforts
during the Great War. We’ll research and scan WW1 era
photos, research WW1 veterans and document the efforts of
Forest County’s numerous chapters of the Red Cross,
WHO: Forest County Youth entering 6th—12th grades
WHEN: July 13th, July 20th and August 3rd
WHERE: Crandon Public Library. (Please bring a
healthy lunch and we’ll take a short break at noon)
COST: $5.00 per youth (payable at the 1st meeting)
Space is limited and registration is required

4-H SPIN Clubs are short-term clubs that meet to focus on a
Special Interest or topic. They are a great way to learn about
specific project areas and to get to know 4-H. If you need a reasonable
