CITI Course Instructions (version 5-2016)

To access the CITI course, go to https://www.citiprogram.org/. If you have never taken a CITI course before, you will need to self-register by clicking on Register in the top right corner of the screen. In Step 1: Select Your Organization Affiliation, Search for organization: Enter full or partial name, select Ochsner Clinic Foundation.

Click on Continue to Step 2 at the bottom of the screen.

In Step 2: Personal Information: enter required information.

An asterisk (*) indicates that the field is required. We ask that you complete all sections so that we have the information necessary to contact you. Adding a secondary email address is important if you forget your password and no longer have access to the first email address; we suggest that you enter your personal email address here, or one that is not likely to change. CITI will send passwords to both addresses upon request. Click on Continue to Step 3 at the bottom of the screen.

In Step 3: Create your Username and Password, follow the on-screen instructions.

Click on Continue to Step 4 at the bottom of the screen.

In Step 4: Country of Residence, follow the on-screen instructions.

Click on Continue to Step 5 at the bottom of the screen.

In Step 5: Continuing Education Unit (CEU), follow the on-screen instructions. Please be aware that if you choose “Yes” there is a fee. (Ochsner will not pay for CITI CEUs, but there is no charge for the course required by Ochsner [See Step 7]).

Click on Continue to Step 6 at the bottom of the screen.

In Step 6: Information requested by Ochsner Clinic Foundation, follow the on-screen instructions. This is for informational purposes only and does not determine the course(s) you will register for.

Click on Continue to Step 7 at the bottom of the screen.

In Step 7: CITI Course Enrollment Procedure, you will choose the course(s) you wish to take. In Question 1 choose Enroll in the CITI Basic Course. This course is required of everyone. Ochsner gives 12 credits for this course. At the end of 3 years, CITI will assign the Refresher course, which also expires in 3 years.

Questions 3 & 4: Good Clinical Practice and Responsible Conduct of Research are optional courses which you may choose to take. Ochsner gives 12 credits for each of these as well, so you can take either of these courses to satisfy the three-year CITI refresher requirement. Click on Complete Registration You will then be taken to the following page:

Click on Finalize Registration You will then be taken to the following page:

Click on Ochsner Clinic Foundation Courses, then Investigators and Clinical Research Coordinators – REQUIRED. Click on Complete the Integrity Assurance Statement before beginning the course. Confirm the Attestation, and you will be taken to the first Module. As you complete the quiz for each module, the next one becomes available. Once you finish the entire course, PASSED will appear under status. You can leave the course at any time and pick up where you left off at your next login. If you wish to take a course from another Institution (if required for joint studies, etc.), click on Click here to affiliate with another institution.
