DO'S & DON'TSTHIS is A great TIME OF YEAR and most of us look forward to a fun-filled

and celebratory Christmas party at the end of the work year.Unfortunately, we all know that one person who takes it a little too

far each TIME.

Follow this simple guide to avoid being "that person" IN yourworkplace. In the famous words of Austin Powers, "Oh behave!"

Remember that office parties areabout rewarding employees and

celebrating achievements, but theyremain strictly business events.

You can have a few drinks butremember to still conduct yourself

professionally and with soberthought. Proper decorum and

etiquette is a must.

Network with employees that canpositively influence your career.

Be sure to know exactly who isinvited and attending.

Know what policies are in place fortransport to and from the venue,

what is provided, and what code ofconducts may be in effect.

Keep conversations light andupbeat and avoid controversial

subjects.

Try and keep one hand free forhandshakes.

Keep your hands to yourself andavoid inappropriate behaviour.

Especially if your significant otheris attending as a guest.

Try and mix with your entire teamrather than only sticking to your

close friends from work.

ENJOY YOURSELF!Everyone wants to have fun butcommon sense is crucial here!

Drink excessively just becauseof an open bar. It can betempting, but moderation andcommon sense is key.

Forget to thank the person incharge of planning the event, aswell as top management forhosting it.

Spend the entire event talkingbusiness or complaining aboutwork. This includes talking aboutpeople you don't like.

Wear revealing attire. AChristmas party is a work eventso be conservative. 

Wear your nightclub/disco/mostrevealing attire. A Christmasparty is a work event so beconservative. 

Dominate the conversation orboast about your achievementsincessantly.

Miss the party without areasonable RSVP. It could hurtyour reputation.

Make it compulsory for all staffto attend, nor discipline them atthe party. Save it for a soberchat back at the office.

Become unduly intoxicated orcondone the use of drugs orillegal activity. Be safe and call ataxi if you find yourself or a co­worker in one of these states. 

POST ON SOCIAL MEDIAanything that could hurt thefirm's reputation or reveal anysensitive information.
