TELEVISION IN TIME
By: Mikelle Patillo & Kayla Tran
TELEVISION (T.V)
The Television is a system or process of
producing on a distant screen a series of
transient visible images, usually with an
accompanying sound signal. Electrical
signals, converted from optical images by a
camera tube, are transmitted by UHF or VHF
radio waves or by cable and reconverted into
optical images by means of a television tube
inside a television set.
1 9 2 8In 1928, a young man by the name of
Philo Farnsworth invented the television system. Farnsworth was only 22 when he invented the tv.
The television he created was called a scanning disk. The scanning disk had a light-detecting device, usually a photoelectric cell, behind it. In the reproducer (the display), a modulated light source, usually used a neon tube, replacing the light detector. As each hole flew by, it produced a scan line.
1 9 3 2In 1932 Charles Francois Jenkins Invented the
“Jenkins JD-30”. The JD-30 is a broadcast/shortwave receiver designed to
connect to a scanning disk set with either a flat plate neon or a crater lamp. It was made in 1932, and was sold with the Jenkins R-400 lens disk scanner. Jenkins took the scanning
disk and made it a little more complex, to eventually get us the televisions we have
today.
1 9 4 1As time travels, ideas and inventions increase.
In 1941, General Electric Facilities manufactured the “Musaphonic Model 90”. This model consisted of 12" console, wood (mahogany), 5 channels, and TV-radio. GE manufactured only 75 units, but none were sold.
1 9 5 0In the 1950’s there was a more clear picture
for television. TV in the 50’s had a few
programs running such as the classic “I Love
Lucy”, and ”Godfrey’s Talent Scout”.
All of the shows were in Black and White.

80’S Baby !
The 1980’s in Television was fantastic! The
TV set itself was better,
companies got rid of the huge
stand that came with the TV. The
quality of picture was
marvelous, and you could hook up your VCR, or game system so you could watch
your favorite movie or play your favorite
game.
1990
Whoa! In 1990 they did it big, real big! The big screen came out and then all the shows you used to watch in regular size multiplied by 50! The big screen had a box in the back and full speakers at the bottom, so you couldn’t miss a beat.
2000In 2000 TV had been pretty
established and comm
on.
Almost everyone had a
television in their home.
2000 TV had amazing
color and picture quality,
an abundant amount of TV
programs, and m
any TV
networks.
20052005 displayed a more complex
TV. Instead of interesting cartoons and shows TV was being used to get out important information globally.
2011
2011 in television is the best! The TV’s are flat, huge and can hang from your wall. There's this thing called surround sound, you have 3-D picture quality, and high definition. You have an amazing TV that doesn’t take up so much space and you can watch anything from anywhere in the world!
Everyone has at least 3 TV's in their home.
CONCLUSION
TV evolved from a simple scanning disk to something used worldwide. There are many great things about TV like getting important information to many people at once. There are also cons to TV such as, bad influences, the wrong image being displayed for anybody to see, and the wrong message being sent out and taken as something acceptable.
