End Year Examinations Over the past two weeks the Year 7 to 10 students have undertaken a number of examinations including Yearly Examinations and Progressive Assessment Testing I commend the students on their behaviour during these examinations Although yearly examinations have been completed many classes still have assessment tasks to complete This time of the year is also a very important time to revise the work completed over the year and it is essential that students continue to work to their full potential in class Study Techniques As it is a time of year when students should be looking over their course work it is a chance for students to refine their study techniques Here is a list of things to consider-

End Year Examinations Over the past two weeks the Year 7 to 10 students have undertaken a number of examinations including Yearly Examinations and Progressive Assessment Testing I commend the students on their behaviour during these examinations Although yearly examinations have been completed many classes still have assessment tasks to complete This time of the year is also a very important time to revise the work completed over the year and it is essential that students continue to work to their full potential in class Study Techniques As it is a time of year when students should be looking over their course work it is a chance for students to refine their study techniques Here is a list of things to consider-
Time Management Time management is key for your academic success
Goals Set yourself clear and defined goals
Get a Good Nights Sleep
Stay Motivated and Be Confident
Avoid Procrastination
Utilise Your Teachers
Get a Study Buddy
Maintain a Balanced Lifestyle
Learn from your mistakes- focus on your weakest areas
Have a positive mindset School Excursions Next Year Plans are in place for Secondary Excursions next year Including The Great Aussie Bush Camp at Tea Gardens for Year 7 to 10 in May and Sydney for Year 11 and 12 in AprilMay School Excursions are a great opportunity for students to develop skills and new experiences Notes about these excursions will be coming home soon Year 10 ROSA grades
This week Record of School Achievement (ROSA) grades for Year 10 students were recorded for the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) These are important grades as they are the grades referred to for any student that departs school before completing their Higher School Certificate (HSC) Stage 5 Work Experience Year 10 and some Year 9 students will attend work experience in Week 8 (3rd to 7th December) Work Experience is a compulsory component of the careers course for Year 10 students Students were given their Student Placement Record (SPR) forms last week These forms need to be signed by the employer parent or guardian and student PRIOR to attending work placement Please ensure these forms are returned at the earliest convenience and before Wednesday 28th November so that they can be processed before placement Students were also given two information pamphlets about work placement one for parentsguardians and one for employers please have a read of the parentguardian pamphlet and contact the school if you have any questions The pamphlet for the employer should be handed to them when the SPR forms are being signed Students were also given a Student Contact Card this should be returned with the students name Medicare number and emergency contact details This card will be completed with teacher details and handed back to the student with a completed copy of the SPR forms prior to going on placement Donna McWhirter Head Teacher Administration

The majority of students in Years 7 to 10 have completed their yearly examinations and staff are in the process of writing reports to provide meaningful and accurate feedback to parents and caregivers It is important for students to realise that school reports are a powerful vehicle for employers and education providers to assess the capacity of applicants
This week Shanae Gleeson Jacob Blair Elizabeth Gleeson and Brianna Groth attended the City Country Alliance Student Leadership Summit in Sydney The City Country Alliancersquos purpose is to connect a cross-section of cultural religious geographical and socio-economic school communities in New South Wales Students attended workshops from a variety of inspirational speakers who have accomplished significant success in their respective fields Keynote speakers included William Barton Hon Rob Stokes MP Minister of Education Tim Ross ndash media personality and architect Lorin Nicholson ndash musician and disability advocate Jamie Henshall ndash executive chef and social media analyst to name a few We also visited the Greater Western Sydney Giants the Bahai House of Worship North Head Quarantine Station and Punchbowl Girls High School Our students were left with an eye opening experience how leadership can exist in a wide variety of situations
Tim Ross Jamie Henshall William Barton ndash One of Australiarsquos leading digeridoo players and Indigenous composers and is powerful advocate for the wider perception of his cultural traditions William played his first classical concert with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra Williamrsquos album Kalkadunga was the 2012 Aria Award winner for best classical album

Today on the 14112018 at Bundarra Central School the Boat Safety people John and Anita held a program that helps kids become safer around boats and in the water We talked about who has been to Copeton Dam and has a boat or a Kayak The third activity was Rob The Nest There was safety equipment in the middle and teams of 4 on the outside The aim was to get what you would need for safety at a dam or at the ocean Points were gained for the items you chose We sat down and answered ques-tions and talked about the different safety equipment We each earned a cap and a wrist band and were given a boat safety pack I rate it 5 stars it was great Elise
I enjoyed the boat safety work-shop and I hope that they come again next year Ella
I learnt lots of new things about survival and boat safety If I was alone in the open sea and in danger I will know what to do I will be able to save myself Sarah

V-sheet E PERB flares and much more You may not know about this survival equipment but someday it may come in handy when your life is at risk A vndashsheet is used when you are in trouble You hold it out so helicopters or airplanes can see it Then the captain of the airplane or helicopter will know you are in need of help In the boat safety program we played 2 games In one we paired up and one of us would run go under the others legs and get the partner a lifejacket that fitted A great learning experience Dakota
Today in boat safety I learnt all about the safety equipment that you need when you go kayaking canoeing and cruising You will need a
v-sheet radio lifejacket
Beacon torch and some flares food and plenty of water Kayley

All K-6 students were able to impress the Boat Safety Officers with their knowledge about boat safety It was pleasing to hear students contribute towards their learning throughout the workshops Congratulations to parents and caregivers for educating your children on boat and water safety This is most important for Bundarra Central School students with access to swimming pools dams the river and creeks not to mention Copeton Dam Some junior CWA students with Mrs Doak and Mrs Light attended a Bundarra CWA meeting making their community connection a real experience The students participated in an actual meeting where they heard the members speak about the project studies they had been working on Students presented the CWA with the ring pulls stamps and teabag tags the school had collected Following that presentation the students were able to share their project studies for this year The highlight was the taste testing of the pomegranate jelly that Maddison Harper had made to share with the CWA women It was delicious The junior CWA is looking forward to assisting the women at their Christmas Luncheon on Friday 7th December 2018 The K-4 students are also looking forward to singing with the community at the Christmas Luncheon The pre-school children have had a successful term participating in Kinder Transition They are learning the routines of the school and enjoy playing in the playground with other students The final transition day will be Thursday 29th November 2018 The parent information session will be at 2 pm that afternoon in the Library We look forward to meeting with our new parents It was great to see primary students nominating to represent the school on the SRC Speeches will have been completed by the time you read this I would like to wish the nominees the best of luck On Monday 26th November 2018 students in Years 3 ndash 6 will participate in Cyber-safety workshops in their classrooms I am sure they will learn from this experience I look forward to meeting up with parents and caregivers at the end of year school events as the term comes to a close Mrs Vicki Light Instructional Leader
