What happens if
Sometimes at our school we forget to
respect YOE. So what do we do if
someone says not nice things to us? Whatdo we do if someone does something and
we want them to stop?
We can follow some new school rules. It is
called Stop, Walk, and Talk!

STOP-WALK-TALK
The first thing we do if someone is not nice to usis to say Stop! And show them the stop sign withour hand.
Stop signal at May Watts
Say the word Stop!
Show the stop sign (school signal)
Say or show Stop! If someone is saying not nicethings to you or hurting you. Use the stop signalwhen you are experiencing a problem behavioror when you see another student experiencingproblem behavior .

Role Plays of when to use Stop!:
Lets Act them out! John pokes Sally in the back over and
over while in line. (Practice saying stop)
Susie teases Sally and calls her a mean
name. (Practice saying stop)
Joey tackles Sam while playing 4-square.
(Practice saying stop)

9/35
Negative examples: when not to
use the stop signal.
Kelly makes a suggestion for a game that
Fred does not like.
Sam steals the ball away from Fred whenthey are playing basket ball: a game
where stealing is appropriate.
Other ideas?

WALK AWAY
What do we do if someone does not stop?
Sometimes even when students tell others
to stop, the problem will continue. Whenthis happens, you are to walk away from
the problem.
Practice: Sally keeps teasing you after you
say Stop. Practice walking away from
Sally now.
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
11/35
Things to remember
Walking away removes yourself from the
problem. What does that mean to you?
You should encourage one another when
someone uses the stop walk talk.
How could that make you feel safe atschool?
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
12/35
TALK report problems to an adult
Sometimes when you use stop and then
you walk away from the problem, the
student may still follow you. When this
happens you should talk to an adult.
Lets Practice: Pretend Susie keeps
teasing you after you walk away. Practice
telling an adult
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
13/35
Talking vs. Tattling
Talking is when you have tried to solve the
problem yourself, and have used the stop and
walk steps first.
Tattling is when you do not use the stop and
walk away steps before talking to an adult
Tattling is when your goal is get the other
person in trouble.
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
14/35
How adults will respond to talk?
1. Adults will ask you what the problem is.
2. They will ask if you said stop.
3. They will ask if you walked awaycalmly.
4. If you did not do Stop or Walk, theteacher will ask you to practice that and
try it next time5. If you did use stop and walk, the teacher
will talk with the other student
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
15/35
Important Note:
If any student is in danger, the stop"
and walk away steps should be
skipped, and the incident should bereported immediately.
Example-falling on the playground
and bleeding, or someone punchinganother student.
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
16/35
Stop Walk Talk
So what do we do if someone is not being
nice to us?
Say STOP! If that does not work, WALKaway, if that does not work, TALK to a
teacher if the problem does not stop
End of Lesson 1
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
17/35
Responding to Stop/Walk/Talk:
Following Lesson (2) Someday, someone may ask YOU to stop,
and they may walk away and talk to a
teacher.
What do you do if they say it to you??
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
18/35
How you should RESPOND?
1. Stop what you are doing
2. Take a deep breath and count to 3
3. Go on with your day
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
19/35
Remember:
Respond appropriately even when you
dont think you did anything wrong.
Respond appropriately even if you think
the other student is just trying to get you
in trouble.
What is an example of responding well?
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
20/35
Bystander
What is a bystander? (Someone who
watches someone else being teased but
does not stop the teaser.
What should/could they do if there is a
problem behavior or situation going on?
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
21/35
Group Practice
John says something rude to Sally
Joe steals the ball that Sam is playing with
Your example to share with the class
Directions: Split into groups of 4 and practiceeach scenario-or have a group practice in frontof the class:
Victim (uses stop/walk/talk)
Bully (responds to stop/walk/talk) Adult (responds to stop/walk/talk)
Bystander (you decide what they do)
END OF LESSON 2
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
22/35
Gossip: Lesson 3
Gossip is saying things about another student
that are not true or not nice
Examples of not being respectful or kind to other
students: Telling a negative story about someone else,
regardless of whether it is true or not.
Sharing secrets that someone told you
Blaming negative behavior on someone else
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
23/35
Lets Practice
Split the students up into groups OR have
one group come to the front of the class
and role play a gossip scenario of your
choice, following the Stop Walk Talk steps
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
24/35
Questions:
How can Stop/Walk/Talk be used when someone sayssomething not nice about another student?
Do you remember what a bystander is? (Someone whowatches someone being teased). Bystanders may hearnot nice things being said about someone. What shouldthe bystander do?
Sometimes this means saying stop to your friends, whichcan be very hard to do. If your friend is not being nice tosomeone, tell them to Stop.
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
25/35
When students report gossip to an
adult:
1. Adults will thank you for coming to them
2. They will ask you what the problem is
3. They will ask you if you said stop4. They will ask you if you walked away
calmly
5. They will practice stop/walk/talk6. End of Lesson 3
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
26/35
Inappropriate Remarks: Lesson 4
What are inappropriate remarks? (Things
that are not nice or hurt someones
feelings)
What are some examples?
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
27/35
Respect
Being Respectful means saying only nice
things about other students.
Being Kind means encouraging others and
making them feel good.
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
28/35
Inappropriate Remarks
Example ofNOT being respectful or kind
to other students.
Calling someone stupid in and effort to put
then down.
Calling someone ugly in and effort to put
them down.
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
29/35
Inappropriate Remarks
If we ever say not nice or inappropriate
words to someone, how do you think they
would feel?
How would they feel if you said NICE
things to them?
What if someone says something not nice
to us? (Stop, walk, talk review)
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
30/35
What if someone tells YOU to stop:
Responding appropriately even when you
dont think you did anything wrong.
Responding appropriately even if you thinkthe other student is just trying to get you
in trouble.
That means STOP what you are doing,
say sorry.
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
31/35
Practice:
Separate into groups of 4, with 1 person in
each group acting as a:
Playground supervisor
Target of an inappropriate remark or victim of
gossip
Instigator, bully, person who says the
inappropriate remark or is gossiping. Bystander, you decide what they do
End of Lesson 4
8/8/2019 Bullying PP

Cyber Bullying: Lesson 5
What is cyber bullying?
When students say mean things to each

she does not like her
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
33/35
Cyber Bullying
Review the school-wide Stop/Walk/Talksignals (verbal and physical action) to beused when students use technology to be
disrespectful to other students.
(Here, walking away may not be
feasible, in which case, skipping to thetalk step would be an appropriateresponse.)
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
34/35
Cyber Bullying
Examples of replying to stop/walk/talk
should include
Responding appropriately even when youdon't think you did anything wrong
Responding appropriately even if you think
the other student is just trying to get you
into trouble
8/8/2019 Bullying PP
35/35
