W hile th e num be r o f p a tien ts s tud ied w as re la tive ly sm a ll,

o u r re s u lts s u g ge s t th a t c o lo n d ila ta tio n is p ro b a b ly re la te d to

m e n s tru a l a g e . T he e a rlies t c a se d e te c te d in th e p re s e n t

se rie s w a s a t 2 6 m e n stru a l w e e k s a n d th e e a rlie s t p re v io us ly

repo rted case o f A R A w as a t 28 .5 w eeks [1 0 ]. O ne case in
