What hemisphere do you live in?
In the word hemisphere, you have a root word and a prefix. Hemi means half and sphere means globe. So hemisphere means half of a globe or the bottom or top half of the Earth.
A base or a root word combined with an prefix
and/or a suffix.
Combined=put together
Prefix: a word part that is added to the beginning of a
base word to create a new wordExample:Pacoima Charter School is located in the northern hemisphere.
Non-Example:I was looking under a microscope and saw some hemime that the geologist found.
Hemi=microscopic reddish-brown crystals
Base Word: A word that can stand alone, but can change meanings when a prefix is added.Example: sphereThe earth is shaped like a sphere. (ball)
