This is due to outdated one-way pagers and suffering from poor network coverage. Offering on-call responders TETRA radios is one solution; however, the lack of funding means that this is not a cost-effective answer to emergency services’ communications challenges.

CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE…
WITHOUT AIRWAVE TPG MESSENGER:A 999 call is received in the early hours of Sunday morning about a large fire at a stately home in a remote rural area. The control room mobilises the nearest fire appliances, paging 25 retained fire officers, 20 of whom attend the station.
Two six-man crews attend the incident and the remaining officers are stood down, returning home. Not only does this incur unnecessary cost, officers’ sleep patterns and work/life balance are disrupted.
