Safety (contingency and escape)

1

• Contingency plans should be revisited between States at a Regional Level especially in High Seas for continuation of Air Traffic Services due to any disruption.

2

• ICAO, IATA and Eurocontrol could be facilitators and Airlines should be included in the processes

3• PBN implementation should be encouraged on airspace design.

Network Constraints- Recommendations

TMA/Airport Capacity

The Top 5 Airport/TMA delay locations have generated 28.3% of the total ATFM (network) delay in 2015

İstanbul Airports/TMA delay locations have generated 16.6% of the total ATFM (network) delay in 2015

TMA/Airport Capacity

Sabiha Gölçen Airport has generated 39.5% of the total top 10 delay locations for Airport Capacity in December2015

Atatürk Airport has generated 36.7% of the total top 10 delay locations for Airport Capacity in December 2015

1

• Collaborative advanced planning should be done for weather phenomena, military exercises or special events effecting TMA/Airport Capacity.

2

• Airport capacity together with TMA capacity measurements should be done periodically followed by implementing the recommendations.

3• ANSP’s should be supported/encouraged for implementing enhanced

operational procedures to achieve better capacity.

PHASE – 2/3

The Second terminal with a total capacity of 120 million passengers

PHASE – 4

With satellite terminal 150 millionpassengers (expandable to 200 M)

Conclusions

1

• ATM performance is seems to be based on efficient use of available capacity.

2

• The main objective we look for increasing the capacity at the airports and in the TMAs by any means necessary. i.e. RVSM, new wake turbulence categories, time based separation etc.

3

• Human Factor is the key factor. Sufficient numbers of key personnel, necessary training and standardization.

THANK YOU

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
