January: UNRWA launches 2017 Syria Emergency Appeal requesting USD 329 million for Syria.February: Violence escalates in Dera’a; UNRWA responds byproviding humanitarian assistance to the displaced.March: UNRWA participates in the second inter-agency convoy to besieged Khan Eshieh camp since access was resumed in December 2016.

April:

refugees are remaining in Syria, and 418,000 are in need. May: UNRWA supports the safe passage of 221 Palestine refugee and Syrian students from Lebanon and Yarmouk to take the national ninth-grade exam. June: A total of 3,044 students out of the 3,812 who sat their ninth-grade exam in UNRWA operated schools pass, scoring an 80% success rate in comparison to the national average of 65.83%.

July: UNRWA joins an inter-agency convoy to Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahem, conducting a needs assessment. Also, for the

Additional USD 17.4 million complemented the operation inSyria through project funds, supporting UNRWA programmes.

In January 2017, UNRWA launched its 2017 Syria EmergencyAppeal, requesting a total of USD 329 million to meet the basic needs of Palestine refugees in Syria. As of 31 December 2017,the Agency had received USD 141.7 million, representing 43.1%of emergency requirements.
