A DAY AT THE MUSEUM Made possible by a grant from EBEF

and contributions from the Warnsdorfer PTA

STUDENT M

ENTORS Upper grade students mentored lower grade students in writing personal narratives.

Students looked forward to working with their mentors during Writer’s Workshop.

Mentor students did a fantastic job of teaching writing strategies to the younger students.

ELMO

Using ELMO, students were able to project their writing “live” onto the SMARTboard during the workshop.

STUDENT TEXT

ELMO technology allowed students to display examples of strategies they used in their writing. This student is sharing the “hook” he developed with the help of his mentor.

Using ELMO, A proud student shows an example of using “sound” words.

Students were thrilled to use ELMO to display their very own writing as the “mentor text” for the workshop.

STUDENT AUTHORS Warnsdorfer’s young authors published their personal

narratives for the museum celebration.

GRAND OPENING November 23, 2010

CLASSROOMS Each room in the Warnsdorfer Writer’s Museum is

named.

Younger grades display notes thanking their mentors.

Upper grades display notes describing how the mentor experience helped to improve their own writing.

Students visited rooms in the museum and eagerly read stories.

Students shared a “great story” discovered in one of the museum rooms.

Students wrote comments in each others’ stories.

HUGE SUCCESS Everyone returned to class excited to read the comments left for them!

Thank you!!! A huge thank you to everyone that made this project a success!

Thank you to EBEF for funding the grant “A Day at the Museum.”

Thank you to Warnsdorfer PTA for providing ELMOs in all our classrooms.

Thank you to Warnsdorfer teachers for eagerly participating.
