Sequence Improvements

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Sequence Improvements

●When a new unit is added into a

User Sequence, the new unit is

located following the unit

supplying the input stream and

the new unit is highlighted for

easy identification

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Enable/Disable Subflowsheets ●Can enable/disable entire subflowsheets

●Ensure streams entering a block are well defined (Copy Paste

Special Total Stream Data)

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Case Study Improvements ● Support for matrix case study

● If cycle fails it is shown with an * on

the cycle number.

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Tray Properties Available through COM

●Find all the details

on tray properties

without the need

to create

pseudostreams or

re-flashing internal

streams to retrieve

data

Heating Curve Updates

● Evaluate HXs at 3 pressures: inlet, outlet,

and halfway in between

● Provide option to evaluate both sides of

the HX at once

● Allow attributes within a Heat Curve (such

as T&P Ranges) to be set via the "Define"

function

● Heating curve thermo selection will match

the method selected for the HXs being

evaluated

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Heat Curve Updates ● Standard heat curve generation for HXs at inlet, outlet and mid pressure isobars

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Tools Spreadsheets Updates

●Converted to *.xlsm file formats

●Reports generate faster

●Heating Curves Spreadsheet:

● Transfer all H-Curve properties to spreadsheet tools

● All Component Related Properties to be Reported when requested

● Heat curves spreadsheet in Output Units

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Tools Spreadsheet Heat Curves

●Multiple heating curve units available for selection

●Multiple streams/units available per heating curve unit for selection

CAPE-OPEN Unit Operations

●Refinery Reactors

●First company to provide

petroleum fraction

properties passed

through CAPE-OPEN

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Feed Flash Options per Feed Tray

●Multiple feed flash

options for each feed

to the column:

● On Tray: Total feed

enters onto the feed

tray

● Separate: Vapor goes

to tray above and

liquid to feed tray

New Koch Glitsch Tower Version

●New Version: KG Tower 5.1

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Column Hydraulics: KG Packing Updates ●New packing correlations received from KochGlistch and

incorporated into PRO/II

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Calculate and Report Ideal Cp/Cv

●Not included in report by default

●Request via Stream Property Table

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Depressuring Unit Operation Updates 1. New valve mode – Orifice. Will detect if

flow is sonic or subsonic automatically

and use appropriate equations.

2. Support for dense phase calculations.

Will detect if supercritical conditions.

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Depressuring Unit Operation Updates 3. Re-order product streams

4. Create pseudo-streams corresponding to

instantaneous vent rates at specific times

5. Indicate whether flow through valve is

critical or sub-critical

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Depressuring Unit Operation Updates

6. Support for density and thickness in

vessel geometry

7. Report temperature downstream the

relief valve

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Depressuring Unit Operation Updates

8. Valve policy & user control of flow rate

and depressuring time

9. Provide an external heat input [Qexr –

UA(Text-Twall)] calculation for blowdown

10.Valve policy for User model & Orifice

model for area

11.Supply wall and liquid temperature profiles

12.Require final pressure in depressuring unit

to be exactly the specified final pressure

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Depressuring Unit Operation Updates

13.Dynamic wetted area

14.Put the maximum pressure on the

VAT so it can be used as a control

parameter

15.Null out product streams when the

step size is increased so that

fewer streams are produced

16.Liquid relief in depressuring unit

17.Document Depressurization unit

Excel Calculator Unit Operation

● Same icon as the normal calculator

but choose ‘Use Excel Procedure’

● Define parameters, results,

constants, etc., as always

● Similar to Excel Unit operation but

more powerful

● Similar to Calculator block but no

FORTRAN coding needed for

procedure section

● Select Excel File (template available)

and edit it

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Use Excel to calculate anything you need

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Results can come just from Excel operations
