- assembly is proceeding to check possible mechanical flaws
1) Small tilt along z (~2 mm): being investigated, maybe poor quality of the bearing ?
2) Some elements showed magnetic properties
These were notice with a small rare earthsMagnet
The effect is tiny but not easy to quantify
Nonetheless some calculations have beendone by hane (John) and FEA (Holger Witte)Using B-H curves from literature
It seems that we have:a) 2 kgf on the gear wheelb) 25 kgf on the drum
BUT we need to assess the realB-H for the material used 1) SS316 seems much less magnetic than
SS304 after stress relief2) We are sending two samples (SS304/316)
to a lab in Dresden to check mu_r/B-H 3) After which a complete FEA should give us
the answer.4) Probably remachine some parts in SS316
This turned out to be all SS304 parts which underwent a heattreatment (stress relieved orwelded).
SS304 is “non magnetic” steelwhich can assume magneticproperties due to heat (welding)
2 kgf
10 kgf
Air system in progress (P. Lau) contacted Tim Hayler for space/air quality requirements in the MICE Hall
Electronics: in progress (M. Dawson, CEG)
Aiming at end of August:a) Complete mechanical b) Complete electronicsc) Merge a)+b)d) Urge a quench test in the solenoid without tracker
