Research Director 2013 – Present US Cooperative for International Patient Programs, National Center for Healthcare Leadership and Rush University, Chicago, IL Oversee research for a cooperative of 50 hospital and health system‐based international patient programs in the United States. Responsible for overseeing an annual benchmarking survey of strategic and operational initiatives and in‐depth reports highlighting program operations, international patient trends and external market trends.

Research Associate 1998 – 2002 School of Health Administration and Policy and Department of Economics, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ Managed and conducted statistical and econometric analysis for multiple research projects related to occupational injuries. Conducted statistical analysis and developed summary report for annual survey of state‐licensed physicians and presented summary findings to the Arizona Council for Graduate Medical Education. Participated in research and development of a report for the 74th Arizona Town Hall on the future directions of Arizona’s health care related to the continuing supply of physicians. Served as technical resource at the Fall 1999 Town Hall meeting.

Summer Research Associate 2001 RAND Corporation, Santa Monica, CA Analyzed the effects of work accommodations on retirement decisions for individuals with occupational injuries before and after implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act using the Health and Retirement Survey. Investigated return‐to‐work programs for occupational injuries from a sample of self‐insured employers in the state of California to identify best practices in employer return‐to‐work programs.


Research Associate 2000 Arizona State University (ASU) Healthy Back Study, Tempe, AZ Served as project coordinator for a three‐year prospective study on back pain resulting from occupational injuries in five national employers. Designed and managed database to track survey information and conducted descriptive and statistical analysis on participation and responses. Trained and managed interviewers on a day‐to‐day basis.

Research Assistant 1994 – 1995 Graduate Program in Hospital and Health Administration, The University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA Developed strategic plan and assisted with data collection for a community needs assessment of mental and elderly health care needs. Conducted literature review and benchmarking study on community health needs assessments, researching various national needs assessments and identifying specific health status indicators for rural communities.

Research Assistant 1994 Graduate Program in Hospital and Health Administration, Center for Health Services Research, Iowa City, IA Examined the effects of provider supply rates on hospitalizations for both mental illness and substance abuse disorders. Investigated small area variations for physicians, psychiatrists, social workers and counselors for the state of Iowa and analyzed data to determine the distribution of mental health providers for the state.
