It is often employed as a writing surface for calligraphy, and especially book covers and endpapers in bookbinding and stationery. Part of its appeal is that each print is a unique monotype.Wed., Aug. 15 & Thurs., Aug. 16 6:30 - 9 pm Members: $75 Non-members: $85

HDR (High Dynamic Range) Workshop Instructor: Nick Choroshyliw niximages.com

There are many instances where the dynamic range of the scene exceeds the ability of the digital camera to capture it; HDR to the rescue. HDR allows you to shoot multiple frames at different exposures then combine the final product into a single image. This workshop uses Adobe Photoshop CS2 for the demo and discusses the pro’s and con’s of HDR. Upon completion you should be able to create your own extended Dynamic Range Images. This workshop is demo only, no hands-on. Thursday: July 12 7 - 9:30 pmMembers: $35 Non-members: $50

Understanding and Using Camera RAW Instructor: Nick Choroshyliw niximages.com

Most DSLR’s produce a RAW data file as well as JPG. Learn what camera RAW is and how to use it to create perfectly exposed images. There are situations where it’s impossible to produce images without blowing out the highlights. Shooting in RAW and processing in Photoshop’s Bridge can salvage those impossible shots. There are also 3rd party RAW processors (FREE) that can be used. Demo only, no hands-on. Thursday: August 2 7 - 9:30 pmMembers: $35 Non-members: $50

Lightroom 3.x RevealedInstructor: Nick Choroshyliw niximages.com

Lightroom is a powerful tool that offers more than basic photo editing! Topics will include image import functions, along with image editing, batch processing, export functions, and archiving. This is not a hands-on class, but feel free to bring a laptop with Lightroom loaded to follow along, or download a 30 day trial version a few days before the first class so it doesn’t expire before the class does.Wednesdays: August 8 - 29 7 - 9:30 pmMembers: $80 Non-members: $95
