How Do I Put Pictures on Craigslist?

Plug your camera in to your computer via USB cord to download. Turn on the camera. Your computer should prompt you to save your pictures. Remember what folder you saved them in.

Go to Craigslist. Make sure the city is correct, then click “Post to classifieds.”

Choose one category.

Enter correct, descriptive information. Make sure your title contains searchable keywords. You may be prompted to make sure your postal code is the correct place on a map.

Do not click the box unless you want to be contacted by advertisers

Hit the “browse” button to upload a picture you have previously saved on your computer. You do not have to have pictures of the item to sell, but it does help.

Uploading Your Pictures On Craigslist Find the place on your computer you saved by clicking the dropdown menu. Always save your pictures to a place you know you can find them, like Desktop or My Pictures.

Once you hit Open, the image will load and appear:

Click the publish button.

Even though you clicked “publish”, no one can see your ad yet. You have to open the email address you provided, find the email Craigslist sent you, and click on the link inside the email. Then the public will be able to view your ad. You will also have to save this email to delete your ad or re-post it each day.

Renewing or Editing Craigslist Ads

Go to your email and open the confirmation email Craigslist sent you when you posted.

Click the link.

Several buttons will appear. To change what your post says (for example, if you want to change the price or include measurements of the item), click “Edit this Posting.” To remove your post (an item sold or you decided to keep it), use “Delete this Posting.” To move your posting to the top of the list of postings for today, use “Renew this Posting.” If you no longer have this option, you have renewed too many times and will need to recreate your ad.

Fraud on Craigslist

• Never agree to send money orders via Western Union or money gram • Never buy something you haven’t seen • Do not accept cashier’s checks or money orders, they are often counterfeit.

Cash is best. • Craigslist will not intervene or refund you if your transaction does not work

out, so be careful and avoid risky transactions. • Beware of “phishing”, when someone emails you pretending to be from

Craigslist and demands personal information or your account will be deleted. These emails are fake. If you aren’t sure, log in to your account on Craigslist.

“The A-to-z Guarantee Program is for situations where a customer never received a product or received a product that is materially different from what was ordered or expected. We ask customers to first contact the seller when they have a problem. If the seller fails to resolve the problem, the customer can file an A-to-z claim. When Amazon receives the claim, we send the seller an automated email detailing the claim and requesting basic information from the seller about the order and the fulfillment process. Amazon will then determine how the claim will be settled, which may include reimbursement of the order to the customer, at the seller's expense.”

What is the A to z Guarantee

Program?

The best way to avoid having to reimburse a customer is to describe your item well, and ship what you promised.

What is “feedback” and how does it

work? • Buyers are encouraged to leave comments about their experience with a seller

whenever they buy anything. This lets other buyers know if a seller tends to be reliable

• Your feedback score is based on negative feedback and total amount of feedback. If your feedback score is close to zero, you’re doing great! Your Negative Feedback Rate should always be less than 5% of the total feedback entries.

• Buyers can view your feedback for the last few months, year, or “lifetime” of your selling account.

• Amazon will only remove feedback if it is obscene, contains only a product review and nothing about the seller, or contains personal information about you such as telephone number or email.

• If you get bad feedback, either contact the buyer to try to make it right and then ask them to remove it, leave a professional sounding comment on the feedback, or let it go.

• Until you get feedback, the words “Just Launched” will appear instead of your feedback score.

What if my account gets blocked?

Amazon typically blocks accounts for selling restricted items or poor seller performance/prohibited seller activity. If your account gets blocked, you can usually get it unblocked. • Look in your email for a notification by Amazon explaining why you were

blocked. • On Amazon, go to your selling account, the Performance tab, and click

Performance Notifications and hit Appeal. • Send Amazon a detailed description of what you will change in order to

meet their standards. The more specific you are, the more likely they are to unblock your account.

• Wait for a decision from Amazon.

Shipping Carriers & Options on Amazon

Option 1: Self-fulfillment: You ship yourself. Amazon bases the shipping rates on the product category and shipping service selected by the buyer, and then pass the amount on to you. (This amount may not be what you actually paid to ship the item.) The amount you are reimbursed for shipping is added to the amount the buyer paid for your item, any fees are subtracted, and one lump amount appears in your bank account or Paypal account. Option 2: Self-fulfillment: You ship using an Amazon shipping label. You print a label from their website to affix to the package, and Amazon subtracts their shipping fee from your profits. Again, one lump sum appears in your bank account. Option 3: Fulfillment By Amazon. This means that you send a shipment of a product to the Amazon warehouse, where they distribute it as people buy and send your profits to you. Not to be confused with printing an Amazon shipping label.

You choose the speed/method you plan to ship the item to the customer.

Self-fulfillment

Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA)

Whether it will be cheaper to have Amazon take the cost of shipping out of your profits or just pay shipping yourself depends on various factors, like the weight of the package.

Fulfillment By Amazon means customers can buy it using Amazon Prime for free two day shipping, so it may sell quicker, but your profits will be less.

Amazon Questions? Posting A Listing On Amazon

Now we will practice a listing. Sign in to your account.

Search for your item and click on the version you wish to sell (in this case, DVD rather than Blu-Ray). Check ISBN numbers if you’re not sure.

Practice filling in the details of a sale.

Observe the amount of money you will be given for each shipping option. Based on how much you think it will cost to ship your item, choose the best shipping option.

If you were to post a real listing, this is when you would be asked to put in bank account information so that your profits can be deposited to you. Then you would look over your listing and press Submit. Take some time to play with the tools available on your Amazon seller account, and raise your hand if you get stuck.
