Welcome to Red Ridge Whitetails Breeding Portfolio. We have tried to present you with a fairly detailed overview of our Breeding Operation. Over the past few years we have been building a program that is based around proven pro-ductivity. Having isolated multiple female genetic lines; our herd has grown to over 100 animals with around 30-40 breeding females. These female lines are the backbone of our program. We will continue to use proven breeding philosophies moving forward. In our research, line breeding again and again has become the most proven tech-nique allowing us to maintain uniformity in antler production while bringing the great animals of the past to the forefront of our program. You will see many of our crosses within a family, some closer than others, while some will be out-crosses bringing new hybrid vigor to our herd. It is our intent to continue to work within our herd crossing our own ge-netic lines within themselves to create unique animals the industry will need in the future. These crosses are made through only what we feel are superior animals. This will propel our program forward for years to come and allow Red Ridge to contribute something truly special to the deer farming community. This two year old scoring over 240 is a four time Angus/Chief cross with Waldvogel’s Boomer seen twice. Tidal Wave has a good look with a nice spread for his age class and lots of character with drops and flyers. I look for this boy to push the 300+ number next year with a pretty substantial mainframe.

Riptide is the perfect example of a potent line bred female, Red 0086, out crossed to one of the most prolific sires in the industry, PA Geronimo. He has a great look with almost a 24 inch inside spread and some really cool outside flyers. He grossed over 242, not bad for a two year old. Riptide should have another great antler push in the summer of 2011. This guy will be one to watch.

Thanks to Mainframe Whitetails for their purchase of Seeker. This great two year old has an absolutely beautiful look and stellar mainframe. His 6x7 frame scores over 182 and his gross score topped 205. His mother is a powerhouse for frame but has the abil-ity to push some score. He is another great example of the Waldvogel/Patrick cross.

Quest is Red Ridge Whitetails highest scoring two year old for 2010 topping the charts at a big time 256+. He is a womb brother Seeker. Quest had some slight growth abnormality on his left side, but this did not overly affect his overall look too much. Having a 20 inch inside spread as a yearling, I look for him to go wide this summer and potentially push the 300 number. Another big boy at Red Ridge.

Probowl is our widest yearling to date measuring 1/8 shy of 21 inches on the inside. He is a perfectly clean 4x5 scoring 147 gross. With Maxbo, Sundance, Maverick and Scar this guy should have the ability to maintain a relatively clean frame over time. I look for Probowl to be one of our better ones moving forward.

PA Eclipse is our highest scoring yearling to date here at Red Ridge Whitetails. He scored 196 as a yearling! His G2’s are very impressive, with big deep forks. His pedi-gree is powered by some big names in productivity. Walk’s Savage and Tami have many huge sons and Eclipse for his limited breeding has done some great things. PA Geron-imo as a sire just tops it off.

Shadow Max unfortunately broke his right beam while growing this summer. But I just can’t get past his stacked pedigree. Breeding Max to arguably one of the industry’s most proven Highroller girls sets up Sweetie for her next cross, Shadow. Sweetness is mother to Pinnacle and Maxfli. This yearling is average at best on score but his breeding is far from that. I double bred Big Guy in hopes of a female, but no dice. Two Big’s dames womb mate had a 213 inch mainframe this year @3 with 31 and 33 inch beams. These genetics are a little slower maturing but the big frame traits are imbedded deep with some serious pedi-gree depth. Look for a monster mainframe from this boy in the future.

Nosey was crossed last year with Midnight. We were very impressed with the build of this fawn that we had to make it again. This combination is line bred; double Lucky/Kristie through full sisters. ICON was an exceptional typical yearling for his day, sport-ing a 5x7 mainframe with a 20 inch inside spread and gross scoring 162+. Unfortunate-ly ICON died after his first breeding season and Nosey is the only offspring out of him.

Patsie is a new addition to our herd, and we love her 3x3 line-breeding of Thunder-storm and his full sister, Yellow 27. Silverhawk adds Redoy Bill’s giant frame and Patrick 111 again. The Midnight Ranger/ Double Down cross has produced a 210 inch two year old at East Fork Whitetails this past fall along with some promising yearlings. I really like the width seen in a vast majority of the Double Down offspring. This should pair very well with the great tines Midnight has shown. W-52 is out of a full brother to Avalanche’s mom and a Buster/Louie doe. I really like this mix, moreover Mad Max has produced some exceptional offspring.

Big Fuzz brings great things to our breeding program. His sire, Big Guy is one of my favorite sires and for good reasons. He had 30 inch beams and 28 inch inside spread as well as a beautiful look. The real “grit” to his pedigree is his mother, Fuzz. Fuzz is a double bred BJ/Legend doe. The BJ/Legend doe aka Bennie is one of the Glenn Dice Farms power girls. She is a frame and tine length machine, and arguably Glenn’s favor-ite doe. Big Fuzz is crossed very similarly to Disco a giant typical at Glenn’s place. Big Fuzz is a slick framed 140+ yearling.

Her daughter Y0287 is a super producing Herbie daughter with 5 phenomenal sons, 2 of which made breeders on the Flees farm, not an easy task. She does not have any average sons. This fawn is a perfect example of how we are using our line bred females for out cross-es. Yellow#35 is a nicely bred three time PA Geronimo girl. Her grandmother, W-124 is a PA Geronimo daughter out of a Magnum II doe. BE Thor is a GB Goliath son of a PA Geronimo granddaughter scoring 235@3 with match beam drops. This is a stacked pedigree. The Wally Doe on the bottom is granddaughter of Holly and a daughter of Blue#3 who is out of BJ and Tami. The Wally doe was then bred to Lone-wood bringing the long tine Queen Holly in again. Loner was then crossed onto this already deep bred doe. He was a late born fawn out of a fawn but blossomed nicely into an exceptional yearling. This pedigree is loaded over six generations deep. The bottom side is proven with Riptide’s dame as the anchor then crossed onto Fear Factor. This should be another great cross. The bottom has a proven maternal side with Y-138, Quest and Seeker’s dame, also Green#4 is a daughter out of Patrick112, Soaring Eagle’s mom. Maxbo Ranger is seen twice paternally on the bottom side and maternally on the top in generation three, and Maxbo is injected three times. I don’t think this one has any choice but to be a stand out.

Our AI program has been a great tool for our breeding program allowing Red Ridge Whitetails to inject new blood into our herd as well as create some unique crosses seen nowhere else. We will continue using AI sires to accelerate our program into the 21st century.

Lila is showing she has what it takes to make breeders for our herd. All of her sons so far have done just that, bred. She is double bred Holly through Honey, a direct Holly off-spring and passing on those long tines. Her yearling this year had a 13 1/8 inch G2 and last year one of her sons sported 11 6/8 G2’s on both sides. Her sons tend to have halo shaped beams with good length. Slick adds the 30 times three to this great doe with 30 inch plus beams and huge inside spread. Another breeder in the making I’m sure.

M83 bottle was a Top 30 purchase in 2010 for us and I’m glad to have her. She has one of Griffith Bros. best does as her grandmother in both legs of her pedigree. G-70 is a powerhouse female. There is good depth of pedigree as well as some line breeding magic in the latter generations. Sunshine is three generations deep of true 200 plus mainframe deer. P-24 is the moth-er of Ricker and an H-10 daughter. Banshee does are serious producers everywhere. Sundown adds Poncho and the famous R-16 doe, a Sundance daughter to this fawn. This will be one of the first Big Rig fawns to hit the ground. Excited, yes I am.

This fawns mother is a daughter of Kaylee who is truly a clean frame girl. Her mother is the famous Red#8 and mother of Numax. Little Banshee was a really nice yearling for back in the day but died shortly after his first breeding season. Doubling Banshee in this fawn should prove exciting for typical lover alike. I forgot to mention Green#51 had four fawns last year. Will lightning strike twice, time will tell.

There is a lot of really well bred animals in this fawn. Willow had a 240 inch son this past year. Sara Marsh had a 240 inch son as well. Hydro-Ax is starting to make some big waves with his production ability. Placing Updraft in the sire position of this fawn increase genetic depth and adds a lot of Flees marketability to this one. Should be a dandy.

WhERE DID ThE TINE LENGTh GO?

It seems that over the past ten or so years our reluctance to pursue the ideal traits of a whitetail have vanished. Why have we gotten so far away from what is truly beautiful in the eyes of our hunters? One thing is for sure, that our over arching theme of breeding for score has smashed down everything that makes a hunters heart jump, yes smashed.

These girls are bred for one purpose and one purpose only, to accentuate tines. After careful research I believe that there is one female line in particular that has consistently over the years shown that it can take even the shortest tine whitetail and make big, long, beautiful G’s…HOLLY!!!

Holly is found throughout these fawns with most having her three times. These fawns are not for HYPE and not the latest trend that the market has come to embrace. They are to create a foundation to work with and correct the largest flaw facing the industry as a whole. So to answer the question… The tines are right here!


Lila Boy is just a yearling but as with his siblings he is showing all that Lila has to offer. He has multiple tines over ten inches with one G2 measuring 13 1/8 inches. His half brother through Lila as a yearling had matched 11 3/4 G2’s last year. We matched Lila Boy with all genetic relatives to increase the predictability in the offspring to express extremely long tines.

Yellow#19 is a direct daughter of Rold Gold and Pink#6, Lila Boy’s grandmother. This breeding adds Holly three times and Sadie once, both these girls have direct sons with tines exceeding 16+ inches. This is a unique pedigree and definitely one of a kind. Wheeler is not known in the industry because of his unfortunate death as a yearling, but his sister is. She is Rig-id’s Mother. Wheeler bred one doe as a button buck, 502/Holly. In this pedigree Holly is seen in the power plant, generations 4-6, three times. Also Y#1 is another great tine length female with her best son having 16 inch G2’s as well. She is the mother to Maxbo Supreme. This will be a special birthing come spring.

This is a very big doe line and should bring solid genetic traits to the program. Be Thor is GB Goliath son with a 24 inch inside spread matched beam drop tines and a 235 gross score. This is my favorite Lila Boy cross this year. Double bred Lila means only one thing…Super long tines. With the additions of only the great Maxbo Ranger and PA Geron-imo this will be awesome to say the least. Holly is seen four times. To my knowledge this is the most line bred Holly doe ever.
