I Want KPU

From humble beginnings as a local college to our current status as a polytechnic university, KPU has continued to grow and evolve for over 30 years. Our name comes from the local Kwantlen First Nation whose traditional territory extends throughout the region. The word Kwantlen itself means “tireless runner” — and we strive to live up to our namesake.

We offer unique programs that can't be found elsewhere, and our inspired faculty are eager to share their knowledge. We pride ourselves on supporting our students however we can as they work towards their personal and professional goals. A maximum class size of 35 individuals creates a small, supportive environment for students to complete their studies.

Our alumni are employed around the world in countless industries, blending their passions with the skills they’ve learned here. We’ve opened our doors to more than 250,000 students and we’re still going.

A Polytechnic Education

The KPU experience is unlike any other. As a polytechnic university, we are committed to providing you with practical skills and the knowledge necessary for your future career. Applied learning in our classes means you gain hands-on experience through projects, group work, guest speakers, field trips, and more. We have countless relationships with community partners and industry leaders to ensure we deliver relevant content and provide one-of-a-kind opportunities to you.

President's Message

Welcome to KPU! We offer an unmatched range of sought-after programs and it is our goal to be Canada’s leading polytechnic university.

We take pride in ensuring our learners benefit from: inspiring educators, a vibrant campus and community life, open and creative learning environments, and relevant scholarship and research.

We are committed to providing an enriched educational experience that blends academic excellence with hands-on, experiential learning and purposeful community engagement. Our programs are relevant locally, nationally, and globally.

I am excited that you are considering KPU as the place to learn and grow, and to have some fun along the way. I know you have choices for your higher education, and I wish you all the best in making the right decision. Good luck on your journey.

Cole’s education in plumbing began in high school through the trades initiative, ACE-IT. His desire to learn new things, be active, and work hard made the trade a perfect fit. Being given the tools and the knowledge needed for the job, Cole is happy to take on the challenges that instructors at KPU provide. While plumbing involves a variety of tasks, Cole says he enjoys meeting new people, and being able to reassure them and solve their problems. See Cole’s full story at kpu.ca/colefedirchuk
