Heactually says he comes to these Christmasgatherings for the lime and the drinks. Hesone of those Rum till I die people.Binge Drinking is now often the term usedto refer to heavy drinking over a shortperiod of time. It is a pattern of drinking thatcauses Blood Alco ol Concent ation (BAC) to be point zero eight gram percentor above. What some people, like UncleJoe may not know is that Binge drinkingcan cause Liver damage, Heart disease,high blood pressure and diabetes.One of the dangerous consequences of Binge Drinking is Alcohol poisoning. Whensomeone gets Alcohol poisoning, it affectsthe bodys involuntarily re exes includingthe gag re ex. If the gag re ex isnt workingproperly, a person can choke to death onhis or her vomit.

So in my mind why drink to an excesswhen you can just simply drink for thesocialization? Meaning, for this Christmas,dont drink to get drunk. I know that my Dadwill make his favorite punch de crme andpeople will make black cakes drenched inalcohol.There will be drinks at the family gatheringsbut I see no reason why it should be turnedinto a rum festival. The fun of Christmasshould be in the traditions, and the familytime spent, not in how much rum one candrink in one go. So thats my thought for this Christmas. Ill take my leave by sayingfor this Christmas eat, drink and be merryfor the love of the season, not for the loveof the rum.
