Spring is now in full bloom. That great sense of seasonal renewal has come upon us all. We’re all enjoying the milder temperatures and longer days, and the pleasures of summer are in our sights. This spirit of renewal and vision has an equal impact on the Penn Club of New York.

First and foremost, plans are already under way to acknowledge the seventeenth anniversary of the opening of our Clubhouse at the Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 14th. It has become our tradition to combine the Annual Business Meeting of the Penn Club with a member appreciation party that has delighted one and all in the past. This year will be no exception. The gratis reception will begin immediately after the Annual Meeting, and will feature a presentation of our outstanding food and bever-age service as well as entertainment that will amuse and delight you. Details will soon be forthcoming, but I urge you to put this memorable event on your calendars now.

In the spirit of renewal, notice will soon go out to our membership to renew their affiliation with the Penn Club. As our Club has matured, our membership base has solidified. Each and every one of you has found reason

to continue your relationship with Penn’s grand vision in New York. When your notice of renewal arrives, I’d like to encourage you to act on it early. All too often, the notices can get “lost” in the mail that accumulates during the summer as we turn our focus over to those wonderful seasonal distractions.

Finally, I’d like to mention that there is still room in our roster for more members like you. It has been proven time and again that the most effective program for member-ship growth and usage rests with the existing member-ship. You can assure the continued success and well being of our Club by inviting other Penn alums, as well as Associates, to join this great institution. If you have a candidate for membership that you would like us to reach out to on your behalf, please forward their contact information to [email protected].

My staff and I are excited to be a part of your life at the Penn Club. Its status as a Platinum Club of America is a source of great pride to all of us. We are eager to welcome you often to your home-away-from-home in New York.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Richard R. BondRichard R. Bond, who currently resides in New Canaan, Connecticut, graduated from the Wharton Business School in 1972 with an MBA in Finance. As a charter member of the Penn Club, you may nd him in the Grill Room, discussing Current Events or participat-ing in a couple’s book group. He also uses the facility as his 2nd o ce. Most of his clients and candidates are located in New York and New Jersey. “It’s a great way to meet people for business. e Club serves as my o ce away from Connecticut,” says Bond.Bond is the owner of Bond & Company Executive Recruiting & Search, which specializes in treasury and nancial planning. Understandably, he has very little free time. However,

when he does nd time to himself, he enjoys playing basketball, working out, and shing. Last month, he and his wife went to Rome and Florence for 10 days. ey love international travel – especially now that they have stopped paying tuition! When asked what he likes best about the Penn Club, Rich quickly answers, “ e location and facility are both great, but the sta is even better. Everyone welcomes me by name and is extremely cordial to my guests. Everyone makes it a pleasure to come to the Penn Club.”
