1.2 (i) Flexibility of the Curriculum: CBCS/Core/Elective option / Open options -

a. The Curriculum is designed by the Board of studies of various subjects as per the

guidelines of the Savitribai Phule Pune University and is implemented with meticulous

planning and is enriched with various workshops, hands on training, guest lectures, skill

development programs and industry interactions.

b. Choice Based Credit System is introduced to all the PG courses from 2013. The CBCS

also includes skill based Courses like Biosafety, Advanced Analytical Techniques etc.

c. Core / elective options / open options are applicable to UG courses in which industrial

applicability, multidisciplinary approach, placement potentiality is the prime focus in the

choice of the options.

Green Agriculture & sustainable allied agri entrepreneurship initiatives theme is

organized through Two days State level workshop on Large scale bio inoculants

production and HOTs organized related to our niche in agriculture, farming, and

cottage industry to meet rural needs besides initiating learners to rise to

entrepreneurial skills for a wide community of farmers, students, industry and

entrepreneurs.

Bridge courses, skill development programs, blending learning, constant mentoring,

career guidance, and personal counseling to motivate the students for all round

development.

Academic planner with meticulous planning, execution and discussions with students

and departments aids in smooth curriculum functioning.

National & State level Conferences, seminars, HOTs, workshops organized with

BCUD, SPPU funding with the motto of outreaching students of other colleges aided

in the skills enhancement, placements, entrepreneurship, innovation and research

aptitude.

Visits to research and higher learning centres, Industries, Biodiversity centres and

evaluation and reforms are as follows:

a) Internal Examination: Two tests based on objective and short answers were

conducted for all programs. Answer papers were evaluated by concerned teachers of

subjects. The evaluated papers were distributed to the students for verification of

marks. The copy of the mark list was displayed on notice board and another was

submitted online to University examination section.

b) University Examination: Three sets of question papers were set by the office of the

controller of examinations from a panel of paper setters of SPPU. Of the three sets

one set is randomly chosen by University and sent online to College Principal and

CEO. The college conducts examination as per the time table and rules of SPPU. The

answer sheets are sent for evaluation at central assessment program center decided by

SPPU Pune.

The answer sheets are evaluated by two examiners. After evaluation the results were

published by SPPU within 45 days from the date of examination. On demand, the

University COE office issues photocopy of revaluated answer sheets to students.

Note: First year UG evaluation is carried out at college level. The result is declared

by college and the mark lists are issued to students through software in the college.

3. Research, Consultancy and Extension

3.1 Initiatives of the IQAC in Sensitizing/Promoting Research Climate in the institution:

a) IQAC and Research Committee jointly took initiative to promote filing of research

projects.

b) It promoted regular interaction with Teachers and students to encourage the active

Special winter camp (seven day duration) organized by N.S.S. at the adopted

village Katphal.

The NSS volunteers of the College involved in the Campus cleanliness drive,

celebrated different days viz. Rakhshabandhan, Gandhi Jayanti, Lal Bhadhur

Shastri Jayanti and NSS week etc. and also assisted in Medical Checkup Camp,

Hemoglobin content determination and blood grouping.

Organization of rallies, lectures, campaigns, camps, surveys and other related

programs through N.S.S., sexual harassment prevention cell, extramural

Student centric programs:

Extension involves transmission of knowledge, skills and values to individuals,

groups or the community at large through self-learning, sensitization, setting

revolutionary trends to transform the society with Yuva Shakti.

„Book Reading Competition‟ to inculcate the habit of reading among the students

organized by Library committee. Marathi Department celebrated World Book

Day.

„18 hrs. Incessant reading‟ exercise was executed for students, staff and non-

collegiate members to commemorate Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, on the occasion of his

birth anniversary. This best practice has been taken cognizance by NAAC.

Departmental Activities:

The resources and intellect of the students is transformed into several activities

training and Epidemiological surveys. Anemia awareness program, Swine flu

awareness program, Blood donation camp, etc. were organized successfully.

Agriculture: Vermicomposting, Remote sensing, Plant disease surveillance

through symptoms and laboratory diagnosis, Energy Sustenance through Bio-

CNG has entrusted the vision of agriculture Soil and water testing, Pesticide

residue testing, Kumbhargaon wetland Studies, Organic farming, Biodiversity

studies, Medicinal and Herbal plant Exhibition.

Social: cyber security awareness, women empowerment, environment awareness,

e-Literacy awareness, literacy drive, aerial talks, Social activities such as gender

sensitization, blind faith awareness etc. were carried out by our students.

5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services:

a) IQAC motivated needful students to file application for Earn while Learn scheme

sponsored by both SPPU and our College under student‟s welfare programme

b) It organized training for competitive examinations such as UGC-SET/NET/JRF, etc.

c) It recommended needy students for financial support from Pawar Charitable Trust those

who have not received funding from government.

pollutants in the college campus by organizing cycle rally and recommended use of

bicycle once in a month.

6.1 State the Vision and Mission of the institution:

The Vidya Pratishathan‟s Trust owes its vision to the insight of its founder, Hon. Shri.

Sharadchandraji Pawar, veteran parliamentarian and Maharashtra‟s foremost Statesman.

The Trust was founded with the paramount aim of delivering world class education to the

rural poor.

The Arts, Science and Commerce College, established in 1994 in the barren outback of

Baramati town within 20 years, the College has been transformed into a premier

6.3.3 Examination and Evaluation -

Our college is affiliated college, as per the guidelines of SPPU Pune the examination

evaluation procedure is as follows:

a) Internal Examination: Two tests based on objective and short answers were

conducted for all programs. Answer papers were evaluated by concerned subject

teachers. The evaluated papers were distributed to the students for verification of

marks.

b) University Examination: Three sets of question papers were set by the office of

the controller of examinations from a panel of paper setters of SPPU. Of the three

sets one set is randomly chosen by University and sent online to College Principal

and CEO. The college conducts examination as per the time table and rules of

SPPU. The answer sheets are sent to evaluation to central assessment program

center decided by SPPU Pune. The answer sheets are evaluated by examiner and

moderator. After evaluation the results are published by SPPU within 45 days from

the date of examination. On demand, the University COE office issues photocopy

of revaluated answer sheets to students.

6.3.4 Research and Development –

The institution promoted research culture among faculty to file applications to

various funding agencies for Minor and Major Research projects and students.

The University sends soft copy of Hall tickets to college, the printed hall tickets after

7. Innovations and Best Practices

7.1 Innovations introduced during this academic year which have created a positive

impact on the functioning of the institution. Give details.

The benchmarking for innovative and best practices through identification,

sustainability, dissemination and adaptation is visioned, executed and assessed by

IQAC.

The activities centered on rural community with active participation of students to

achieve the communal goal of the organization and to strengthen the societal- College

interface.

Clean Campus Drive: The solid waste from canteens, mess and leaf litter fallen in the

campus is turned to fertile manure through vermicomposting continuously upgraded by

student‟s projects and the produce is used for gardening and even for self-sustainability.

Waste water and sewage are processed by the Sewage treatment plant. The treated water is

used for campus plantation. Reduce, recycle and reuse is the policy of the organization to

save the ecosystem.

Clean River Drive: The world River day was celebrated by cleaning the banks of river

Karha in Baramati to create awareness amongst the public by the students of

Biotechnology.

Green Drive: Tree plantation and exhibition of medicinal, aromatic and economically

important plants organized in the premises and at Lonavala in collaboration with Rotary

Club of Baramati in District Conference sensitized the public, staff and students for saving

the planet by green initiatives.

Health Drive: Health consciousness is stimulated through Determining Body Mass Index

(BMI), Blood group checking and Haemoglobin testing helped in improving the nutritional

status, rare blood group & donor data and anaemia prevalence among the students alerting

for expert consultancy & treatment.

Green Agriculture & sustainable allied agri entrepreneurship initiative:

a. Sustainable agriculture through organic farming is the motto of the rural agronomy, the

prima foci, aiming at the advocacy of the farmer community. The college with the

advantage of its geographical location for the community service always has been

instrumental in catalyzing activities for promotion of green moves. Two days State

Level Workshop, Certificate courses on large scale production of bio inoculants with

the enthusiastic participation of industry, farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and

students highlighted the necessity of such activities regularly. The workshop executed

industry to meet rural needs besides initiating learners to rise to entrepreneurial

skills. “Entrepreneurship in fish farming” a one day workshop in collaboration with

Marine Biology Research Station, Dapoli with experts Dr. Chavan, Mr. N. D.

Chougule, Mr. Sachin Satam with active participation of farmers, students, and

industry highlighted the scope of entrepreneurship with scientific indulgence in

aquaculture.

ii. Workshops on scientific bee keeping, vermicomposting, bioinoculant production

complimented with student research projects to meet the research end of these

subjects is executed through environmental awareness, curricular and star college

projects.

iii. Certificate courses on bioinoculant Production, Solid waste management,

Entrepreneurship in fish farming, Scientific Bee keeping with participation from all

over the state extends theoretical to practical to the society.

iv. Skill empowerment programs to the students on advanced technologies like Virus

inoculation and cultivation at the Virology BSL II laboratory facility to acquaint

with the unseen, challenging and advanced arenas of learning.

I) Green Agriculture & sustainable allied agri entrepreneurship initiative:

and theme based cartoon display, and product exhibition invoked the theme of the

public advocacy of the sustainable agriculture.

b. Agri entrepreneurship activities:

i) HOTs organized related to our niche in agriculture, farming, and cottage industry

to meet rural needs besides initiating learners to rise to entrepreneurial skills.

“Entrepreneurship in fish farming” a one day workshop in collaboration with

Biological terminology in regional language- Marathi‟. Our efforts created a

platform to findings of researchers and teachers at national level with 142

participants to share their expertise and contributed in translating the

terminologies in regional languages with respect to Environment and Biology.

c. Green Awareness: The three days Exhibition of Medicinal plants and plants of

Economic importance, Flower arrangement and Fruit Carving Competition

organized on 26th

to 29th

January 2016, on the occasion of Republic Day to

promote the creativity, conservation of nature and its significance in human life.
