TOOLS & TECHNIQUES USED- A FURTHER STEP TOWARDS

CAMPAIGN EXECUTION

Campaign execution- The campaign execution process aims to make concrete

plans and strategies by formulating a clear outline of campaign activities,

types and content of communications, the organizational structure, and

sharing of responsibility.

Depending upon the context, tools and techniques have been formulized for

the campaign execution which is as follows:

Slogan writing on the walls in public places that attract people’s

attention

Posters

A public march or procession conveying the message through banners

placards in local languages and even songs especially composed on

election themes.

Awareness on wheels- Campaign Vehicle

Skits and street plays in form of Bhavai and an innovative initiative of

puppet show in public squares and in rural areas marked as low voting

areas

Oath taking

Distribution of pamphlets and leaflets

Using radio shows

SENSITIZING THE SAAKSHAR BHARAT PRERAKS:

The Meeting to orient, involve & sensitize the functionaries of the Dahod

was organized at the office of Deputy District Continuing Officer.

District & Taluka Preraks of the District Dahod participated in the Meeting.

IEC Material published for the Electoral Literacy, Awareness T Shirt was

distributed to them

SRC Team explained them their role and responsibility to carry on the mission

further in their respective blocks.

They were informed about the various methods through which they can

spread the awareness amongst the public.

“Hard Work Always Speaks”- With this saying here is the representation

of Comparative Chart representing increase percentage of Voting

turnout during 2009 Lok Sabha Election and 16th Lok Sabha Election

2014

The above chart represents the increase voting turn out of selected districts of

Gujarat State during 16th Lok Sabha Election 2014. The chart represents

overall 07 districts out of 10 districts were covered under Pre Election

Awareness Campaign Program by SRC JSS Bharuch. 04 Districts namely

Kachchh, Dahod, Panchmahal and Surendranagar are Saakshar Bharat

Districts while other 03 namely Rajkot, Vadodara and Bharuch are non

Saakshar Bharat Districts. Other 02 Saakshar Bharat Districts Narmada and

Dang does not have separated Constituency, and as it has been combined

under other constituency such as Chotta Udepur and Valsad, thus accurate

percentage of voting turnout have not been acquired.

OUTPUT and CONCLUSION

“Pre Election Awareness Campaign”- A campaign that escort people of

democratic country towards the path of democracy achievement.

With similar objective, SRC Bharuch in association with JSS Bharuch planned

and implemented pre election awareness campaign for the 14th Lok Sabha

Election 2014 as per guidelines of Election Commission of India under SVEEP

Program. SRC Bharuch is bound to spread awareness for electoral literacy in

06 Saakshar Bharat Districts under Interpersonal Media Campaign. While JSS

Bharuch too worked under similar streamline of spreading awareness

regarding election in non Saakshar Bharat districts as part of duty.

Teamwork always give great result who’s exemplary is the team of SRC

Bharuch and JSS Bharuch worked together for 14th Lok Sabha Election 2014. It

is great pleasure to share that the effort laid for voters awareness proved to

be fruitful when on 30th April 2014 it was declared that Bharuch has

positioned second in Gujarat State. Additionally there has been amplification

in the voting turn out as compared to last elections held in 2009.

In 2009, around 57.14% was reported in terms of total voting turnout;

however, in current election of 2014, 74.54% has been reported as total

voting turn out for 14th Lok Sabha Elections 2014. The comparative figure

itself speaks about the great boost in voting turnout.

Implementation of Pre Election campaign by SRC Bharuch and JSS Bharuch

proved to be right direction for future endeavor.

4.4 WORKSHOP

An innovative program was introduced to cater to the people of Gram

Panchayats.

A Two Day Workshop was organized by SRC Bharuch and JSS Bharuch Team

members for the design and development of puppets to be used in the ‘Puppet

Show’ with the expert participation of Art & Craft Teachers (Primary Schools)

of District Bharuch.

The script was developed & designed by SRC and JSS team conveying every

important aspect of Electoral Literacy. The music was designed by

professional musicians on lines of Gujarati folklore and whole script, songs

with traditional music was sent to State Election Authority for vetting. The

total expense of the Puppet Show was borne by JSS & SRC.

SRC BHARUCH ATTENDING REVIEW MEETING ORGANIZED BY STATE

ELECTION AUTHORITIES

Deputy Secretary Shri Padalia(IAS) alongwith Shri Y M Goriya reviewed

the details of all Districts to get on hand information on progress of SVEEP

programme. Shri S Zainul Abedin Director i/c was especially present

during this meeting to explain the IEC material prepared by SRC Bharuch

AUDIO- VISUAL MATERIAL

Along with published material, SRC Bharuch team in association with JSS

Bharuch team prepared audio visual material as well in order to get active

participation from the people for active voting. The team prepared two songs

of its own and 3 translated that had been sent from NLMA as IEC material.

Along with it also translated radio jingles in local language to broadcast it on

different radio channels. Additionally with aim to attract more voters SRC

Bharuch in collaboration with JSS Bharuch prepared Bhavai and puppet show-

the best traditional method to transmit any message in simple and easy

manner. SRC Bharuch and JSS Bharuch in accordance to target urban group

people; it involved MSW and MBA students and prepared them for power

point presentation for presenting at various industrial institutes, schools and

colleges with aim of catering large population under election awareness

campaign.

“Jagruti Rath ”- AWRENESS ON WHEELS – A specially designed and

decorated Campaign Vehicle with Electoral Awareness banners and

posters was the key campaigning tool to outreach the rural voters.

Special Van organized for Election Awareness Campaign by SRC and JSS Team member

on 31st March at 11.00pm for the occasion of flag hoisting on 1st April’2014.

Topics Covered & Techniques Used: Visit to aforementioned villages with

the message of Electoral Awareness & Participation, Pasting of Posters and

Stickers & Slogan writing was done in Schools, Panchayat office and

Aanganvadi centers. Motivated the younger people to move out and become

voters and vote. Puppet show organized in market place to create awareness

of election.
