Write a note on communication cycle and give a diagrammatical representation along with example.

Communication Cycle.Communication is a ‘bridge’ of meaning in which involves a systematic end and continuous process of telling, listening, understanding responding. There are child babbles or a mad person talks nonsense, it is non- communication. Communication is a purposeful activity and a two way process can be stated as:TRANSMISSION + RECEPTION + RESPONSE.

The Process Of Communication Has Following Elements.1) Sender.2) Message.3) Encoding.4) Medium/channel5) Receiver.6) Decoding &7) Feedback.

1) SENDER

This is the ‘WHO’ of the process. The sender plays an important role. Since he is the source of the message. The process begin with him, the sender sends the message that is his ideas, feelings, thoughts, opinions.

2) MESSAGE

Page 23: Effective%20 communicatin%20project%201st%20semister

D.T.S.S. COLLEGE OF COMMERCE

This is ‘WHAT’ of the process and is an essential In the communication process. Unless there is some thought or idea to share. There would no communication.

3) ENCODINGThe message has to be formulated in some way to make

it possible for it to be put across. This process is called encoding, in which involve selecting, organising, in formation in a suitable way. In this process language is a kind of code. This is set of word acting as symbols agreed by all speakers to understand for represent certain entity.

4) THE MEDIUMThis is the method used to convey the message.

It can be verbal (oral or written) or non-verbal (electronic). It is also combination of some of these medium. Different types of medium are available but proper medium going to select by the medium is important.

5) THE RECEIVERThis is also an important component in the process of

communication, because unless there is someone to receive the message, it cannot be save that communication has taken placed. The receiver is the person or group of the person to ‘WHOM’ the message is directed.

6) DECODINGThe receivers received the message and understand the

meaning of the message; this process is known as decoding. This is does against the background of his age, gender, past experience, culture, attitude, etc.

Page 24: Effective%20 communicatin%20project%201st%20semister

D.T.S.S. COLLEGE OF COMMERCE

7) FEEDBACKFeedback is nothing but reaction, reply or response.

Effective communication depends on feedback, which is meaningful and understanding a response given by the receiver to the sender. Feedback can be positive or negative. Positive feedback encourage sender and complete the process. But negative feedback obstructs and create problem in communication.

From above, it is clear that in a communication situation a connection is formed between the sender and receiver. The first three steps are initiative by the sender while the next two steps involve the receiver.
