OurweekwasfulloflearningandgrowingattheWinthropSchool! Westartedwithweekoffwithoneofmyfavoriteeventsoftheyear:Thefifthgrademusical.ThisyearourfifthgradeteachersdirectedthestudentsinaperformanceofTheseusandtheMinotaur(withatwist).Thisplaywaschosenduetothefifthgraders’interestinmythology,andthestudentswereinchargeofthesetdesign,singing,andchoreography.ThedressrehearsalwasperformedfortheentireschoolonMondayafternoon,andthenagainforfriendsandfamiliesintheevening.Greatjobtoourentirefifthgrade! OurfourthgradersheldtheirLivingBiographythisweekforanimpressedgroupofparentsandfamilymembers.Asguestsvisitedeachchild’sstation,theyweregreetedbythestudent,dressedincharacter,whopresentedaspeechaboutthehistoricalsignificanceoftheircharacter’slife.Besuretoseethegroupphotolaterinthenewsletter.Ourthirdgradersattendedtwofieldtripsthisweektoenhancetheirlearningaboutthehistory,geographyandgovernmentofMassachusetts.OnetripwastotheStateHouseinBostonandtheGranaryBuryingGroundwherefamoushistoricalfiguressuchasPaulRevereareburied.TheothertripwastothelocalhistoricalsitesinHamiltonandWenham,withthehighschoolAPHistorystudentsastheirtourguides.OurkindergartenclasseswerevisitedbyCuriousCreatureswheretheywereabletoseeandlearnaboutanimalsandtheirhabitats.EarlierintheweekMs.Pasmore’sstudentsperformedTheLittleRedHenforfamilies.IfyouhaveakindergartnerinMs.Kropilak’sclass,theywillbeperformingtheirplayonJune1.
