How Are The Books Arranged?
000 Generalities 100 Philosophy & psychology 200 Religion 300 Social sciences 400 Language 500 Natural sciences & mathematics 600 Technology (Applied sciences) 700 The arts 800 Literature & rhetoric 900 Geography & history
Our library is arranged primarily by using the Dewey Decimal System. Here are the categories of Dewey Decimal:
Fiction and BiographyFictional books are placed in the library in alphabetical order by the author’s last name. The letter “F” is place on the spine of the book above the first letters of the author’s last name.
Example: Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice F

Biographies are placed in the library by the call letters 92 listed on the spine ofthe book over the first letters of the author’s last name. They are shelved alphabetically by the subject’s last name.

Reference Books
Reference books are available to students, but are not usually checked-out.
Faculty members are welcome to use these in the classroom or for your ownresearch needs.

Magazines and newspapers are also available in our library. Both are updated
daily (newspapers), weekly, and
monthly (magazines)
Dictionaries and Reference Books
Dictionaries and reference books are located in our library and can be used on-site for general information about many topics.
Also included in our collection is the Volume Library and various thesauruses and foreign
language materials.
Collections
Collections are found in our library. These mainly consist of indexes for short stories, condensed books, and poetry. Literature anthologies and plays are also found in our collections.
Media Center
Our media center consists of VHS tapes and DVD’s covering many different topics,
including history, economics, government, sports, literature, musicals, art and
architecture, ancient civilizations, and many others.
Computer Center
Using the computer center is usually controlled by a check-out system through
the faculty.
Useful sites for research include:TN Electronic Library Gale Reference LibrarySweet Search Google Books Library of Congress
Maps, Globes, Etc.
Various atlases and globes are available for classroom and library use. Be sure to see the
librarian if you need to use these materials.
Other Information
Other collections are also stored in our library. novel sets and other non-fictional reading is housed in our library storage room.
We also have a collection of photographs, kits,and have recently added a small but growing e-book collection.
