Westside Connection is a non-profit organiza-
tion. We provide athletic opportunity for the
youth of our Westside neighborhood. Youth
who attend a West High School feeder school
and students who attend West Middle School
qualify to participate in programs offered. We
are currently offering programming for children
in grades 3-8. We work closely with the head or
assistant varsity coaches at West High to imple-
ment their terminology, team rules, style of play,
practice drills, etc.
Westside Connection strives to be an inclusive
organization, and to offer programing as di-
verse as the communities we serve. Today,
Westside Connection is able to give interested
youth a low cost opportunity to experience the
commitment, the challenge, and the fun of a
competitive experience in basketball, volley-
ball, and football. But WC exists to fulfill a mis-
sion for tomorrow. That mission is to someday be
able to offer, at little or no cost, something of
interest to every youth in the diverse community
that we serve: Sioux City’s Westside.
WESTSIDE
CONNECTION
NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT
Although coaches and volunteers contrib-
ute significantly through their own re-
sources, through fund raising, and through
countless hours on the courts and fields, ad-
ditional funds are needed to realize the
dream. Westside Connection hosts several
fundraisers in order to raise money to con-
tinue to grow as well as support our activi-
ties we already have established. We hold
car washes, participate in tip nights at local
restaurants, host pancake breakfasts, and
even cook for a spaghetti dinner/silent auc-
tion. Everyone is welcome to be a part of
Westside Connection,

Our highly regarded basketball program
is structured to teach the fundamentals
of dribbling, footwork and shooting. Alt-
hough the focus is on skills, the program
also supports the youth competitive spir-
it, as it teaches sportsmanship, team-
work, personal fitness, and personal ex-
cellence.
Our volleyball program is a fun healthy
way to learn the basics, and improve
skills. With an emphasis on passing,
skill drills, and strategy, our volleyball
program has proven to develop partici-
pants as team players, and as individu-
als. Lots of game play helps the skills
and new techniques learned take root,
and ready the youth for friendly competi-
tion as well as tournament level play.
Our football program challenges youth
to excel both mentally and physically.
The program is physically centered on
teaching a solid foundation of football
fundamentals, but also offers condition-
ing, and training techniques to improve
speed, balance, and endurance. The
program also provides a healthy social
outlet, and team building skills that will
last a lifetime.
